Two electrical questions . . well, three

Hi: I have a 2002 LY26' on a P32 chassis.
The hesitation wiper only works intermittently but works reliably on Lo or Hi speed. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the control stalk but I can't find the module which controls the hesitation. Anyone know where it is please?
A few years ago my ignition switch overheated and melted. Got it replaced after camping for two days at the dealers! I just read somewhere that it is possible to install a relay module which better carries the high current. Anyone know about these?
Also, just beside the ignition switch there is a curious cylindrical device which is actuated as the ignition switch is moved - this is separate from the ignition switch. It gets quite warm and I now worry about it as well. Again, any ideas?
Thanks.
