Ok. Looks like I need to remove the turn signal hardware to get to the next layer down

I'll work on that this afternoon.

Actually brad, I think the slip ring disk is above the turn signal assembly, it may be on the bottom of the steering wheel boss you have already removed

Well that would certainly make things easy

The only draw back to that is it means I have to handle the steering wheel which is literally melting into a gooey mess. Not sure why but the wheel has deteriorated so bad that it's been dripping onto the drivers floor board. Really strange.

Yes, my old steering wheel was not that bad, mine was just unpleasantly sticky to the touch. FYI, you can see the slip ring below the boss in the attached.

My steering wheel is so bad some of the rubber sticks to you when you pull your fingers away.

That shiny black stuff is real soft and gooey. I've never seen something deteriorating so badly.
