Sticker Shock! And Difference between 2015 and 2016

We drive by our Airstream dealer every time to visit Costco, so last weekend we decided to drop in for a quick visit to tour the new Classics. On a whim, we took a look at the Interstates and wow...we really like them.

Not at the point yet where we are seriously considering trading in our Classic; not going there yet. But I have to say I am very surprised at the cost of new Interstates. That alone will be the reason why we don't go there.

But the dealer had one new 2015 Interstate 24', 9-passenter Lounge priced down from $154K to $125K. So I'm wondering, is there a big difference between the 2015 models and the 2016 models. I think the salesman mentioned the shades are now automatic. But other than that, any other differences?

Go to Colonial Airstream web site. They always list the changes in the new models. See this link.
http://www.colonialairstream.com/201...772/index.html

Here is what is listed:

2016 Interstate New Features
NEW FEATURES

*Power day/night shades with master control.
* Side view cameraís integrated in the mirror.
* Review monitor with lane assist guide lines.
* New rear camera integrated into third brake light.
* Child tethers on mid-captainís chairs.
* Exterior LED service lighting- main controls, LP, macerator, water fill and shower.
* Exterior LED under carriage lights with dimmer.
* Locking water fill.
* Color coded front license plate holder.
* Interior LED lighting- front and rear overhead cabinets and rear storage area.
* Additional USB ports throughout.
* VB Air suspension option available (Rear).
* Twin beds now available in the extended floor plans.

From my view the ability to get VB Air suspension is worth the extra cost of a 2016 model.

Rebate on 2015's

I also believe that Airstream is running a $3000 rebate on 2015's. If you go that route, I would be specific about if the quoted price includes or excludes this rebate. Here in CA, there were dealers selling 8 passenger 2015 EXT lounges for $119k including the rebate.

Fuel tank is smaller on the 16 Chassis I think. The lane departure and safety features are nice on the 15 & 16. Remember your '15 will be a year older when/if you trade it down the road.

Some Sprinter trivia - fuel tank got slightly smaller when they brought 4x4 to USA market in 2014 model. Tank had to be smaller to clear some 4x4 parts so the made all tanks smaller to reduce part number variances. Got this from Mercedes USA rep at seminar a few years ago.
