Lightbulb Small tank

We have a 1993 Land Yacht - 33ft. Was looking under the kitchen sink & found a small tank with an air valve in the top of it, looks about 4-5 in. in dia. Any ideas what it is? Will pull the panel off tomorrow to get a better look where it goes.

That is what is known as an "accumulator tank".

In theory, it will even out the pulsing output of the 12v water pump, reduce the amount of cycling of the pump, reduce or eliminate surging, and contribute to world peace. No, really, they appear to work in many situations.

The schraeder valve is for adding air. The tank needs a given air pressure to work properly, which I believe is determined by the lower demand limit of your pump.
