"Class B+" is a marketing gimmick, not an actual class of motorhome. Mainly because "Class B+"
sounds a lot better than "Class C-" which is an equally accurate nomenclature for that particular size. Class A is built on a chassis (like the Winnebago Via on a Sprinter chassis), Class B is a conversion van (like the Interstate and others), and Class C is built on a cab/chassis (like the new Leisure vans as well as the Winnebago View). Leisure Vans doesn't do conversion vans anymore, so it's not any kind of B, no matter what they
call it.
I for one would like to see Airstream make a "Class B+" on a Sprinter cab/chassis. Not being limited by the Sptinter's 6½' overall width would allow a much more ergonomic floor plan. And because it wouldn't have to be built "ship-in-a-bottle" style inside the existing van body would make construction a lot less expensive, too— not to mention that buying cab/chassis from MB instead of whole cargo vans to convert would save Airstream money on the front end, too.
You know what else would make an interesting base for a Class B? The Toyota Coaster minibus, which has also been built as a hybrid/electric since 1997. But I have yet to see a Coaster used
anywhere in the US except as an airport shuttle.
