Funny! I was just watching a youtube video, and spotted this same Airsprint, or Sprinstream... or something, at around 2:45 in:

For that kind of money I'd just buy an Earthroamer and head into the desert. But we all hear our own drummer so I wish him well in finding a buyer.

OK Mom, I heard you . . . I really did. But stilll - that thing is just plain ole hard to look at and the guy must have been going thru a tequila withdrawal when he was dreaming it up.

Then you're a better man than I am. If he built that hermaphrodite because he wanted it, then I sure hope he didn't decide that he doesn't like it after all. If the builder doesn't like it, why should he think anyone else will?
If he built it on speculation only because he thought someone else might want it (and at that price), then he showed a serious lapse in judgment, and deserves to be stuck with it.

Phishing for offers
I think the owner is just testing the waters to see if there is any interest, now that he's grown bored with it. Seriously, I think he could probably find a buyer at around $125k. The interior is unfortunate.
Tell you what, if you like the Sprinter - Airstream combo, I'll sell you my rig for $100k, you won't need a step ladder to get in, and I'll throw in a $100 fuel card to get you home - anyone? anyone?

OK, the price is silly and the rig is, let us say, ungainly. But give the guy credit for experimenting and bringing it to fruition.
The idea of putting an RV on a truck flatbed isn't new. Getting the truck cab to match well with the trailer is difficult and this didn't work smoothly. Workmanship might be good, hard to tell from the 4 photos.
Maybe he could make new Airstream MH's for WBCCI leaders.

Patrick, that changes the perception of what he is doing.
I first pictured the guy as something like a mad scientist with a dream and a big checkbook. Maybe he is, but now it looks more like an entrepreneur looking for a market niche for a specialized product. Seems like the next step is building a Class A. Looks like he has the skills to do it. Is this the Wally Byam for the 21st century?
Maybe you can get the first dealer franchise.

I am not sure how one can go from a 40-60K conversion to one over 500K.

If you read the description of the Tacoma conversion, it would appear that the Airstream-sprinter one that he wants a half mill for was his first!
"I built this myself and is the 3rd custom motor home I have done. The first being a 2005 Airstream trailer mounted on a 2007 Sprinter cab chasis. The second a canned ham trailer mounted on a Sprinter Cab chasis." Maybe he figured out that the Airstream one is a stinker and is trying to get someone to think they're lowballing him at $200k?

For posterity, I'm attaching the 3 in question (with the canned ham and teardrops having been marked sold on the TCT classifieds.)
I have to say, the fact he's using newer components is great; make any goofy-lookin' thing you like, as far as I'm concerned. It's some of the chop jobs some of our European friends have done to 1940's models that breaks my heart.
These seem nicely constructed - I just think he'd benefit greatly from stronger design and inspirational sketches at the outset, particularly on the Airsprinter. There must've a more elegant way to have combined these vehicles, without the result looking like Christopher Walken wearing fishing waders.

I saw this project too, at a music festival in California. He is seriously proud of his work, and it's actually well done, with a lot of extra storage etc. That sort of time and money would have gone a *very long way* rebuilding a nice old Airstream motorhome, mine was just a little bit cheaper!

Good point. I happen to think that there are core aesthetic design flaws in each of the units that come down to a round peg and a square hole. I'm not talking about storage or even the quality of construction.
The design flaws could have been mitigated with a little more work, but the way they stand they all look as if the vehicle is a temporary transport for the trailer body, giving it a disjointed, unrelated and off-putting feel.
My next door neighbor has a sprinter RV and it's lovely. It has it's long lines and takes pride in it's boxy-ness. These are all just a hot mess of straight and curved lines, and color choices that are not reflected in the overall design. They are chop shop mayhem.

I agree with Eric. I see no form in any of these builds. The function may work well but most of us want the lines to be pleasing. All of these look mishappenen to me. Maybe like something Moe, Curly and Larry may have built.

The one with the canned ham is probably the best of the three. The teardrop just looks like it's being transported in the truck bed, and the airstream looks like an unfortunate collision took place. At least the canned ham has straight sides that match up with the platform vehicle.

Stephanie, I guess what I was trying to say is none of them even approach any kind of elegance in design. I can't see any rational intent in any of them to look anything but badly mismatched spare parts, pieced together. If I had 600,000.00 i'd make something that was as pleasing as it was functional. I agree the middle one is the best of the worst.
