My 1982 280 Classic
This is my 82 280 at Amicalola Falls State Park in Georgia. I am a tru car buff, but had never seen an Airstream Motorhome until this past summer. Then it was a few months search to find one.
Purchased in November, I have many hours into cleaning, fixing, polishing, rewiring, reupholstery( not all done by me),and so on. Also many more hours reading posts on the net and learning.
I made a collection of Airstream related photos and articles that I can peruse when I want to. Love 'em. Wish I could have a trailer too, but it's out of the question. ..(so far anyway)....

Wow, it sure is sharp. It's always great to see how much care is being put into the older rigs. That Argosy looks new.

Motorhome photo
I am a trailer owner but love the silver motorhomes too, I found the attached photo in my photo collection. I'm sure it belongs to someone on one of the lists, saved it because it is so striking. Do any of you own it?

That looks like a 1978-1980 Excella 24' rear bath model. Look at the 1978 Argosy 24(A) on my site. The 1981 year had two blue stripes down the side. The 1982 model year started the 280 and 310 models. The 28' units don't have the windows rear of the door on the starboard side. Some of the units in this era didn't have the window in the door.
Notice the dual search lights!

What a nice polish job. I picture many blackened rags, and a cyclo polisher working overtime. Looks great, comgrats to whomever owns it.

here's my 1977 Argosy 28. i bought it for $3500 about three years ago and have probably put another $2000 into the mechanicals since then. brakes, wheel bearings, airbags, etc...
i've used it mostly as a tow vehicle for my racecar, and it's done a splendid job, however many of the comfort systems don't work and i'm hoping to do a complete refurb this summer. i'm even considering converting to a center-bath configuration, which seems to make a lot more sense than the rear bath does.

Polished MH
The picture of the Polished Motorhome appears to have been take at the Top of Georgia Airstream Park just north of Helen, GA.
This unit was at the park about a year ago, it belonged to someone over in Elijay, who kept it parked outside his business. He said people were always wanting to buy it, and last I heard, he sold it. It was a nice inside as it was outside. I think if you look closely the 2 spotlights are air horns. Neal

Bill,
very beautiful!
It looks like a 79 according to the battery compartment?
Did you strip and polish it and how do you keep it that way?
I also would be interested in the Airstream VIN of your coach.
Mine is M28T9V5143
M=Motorhome
28=Lenght
T=Rear Bath, twin beds
9=year
V=Versailles, Ohio
5143 is the serial number
Curtis, another member of this forum just drove his 79 from Seattle to Anchorage, Alaska.
His serial number is 5142, just one digit before mine.

I see the old links to photos aren't working. Here is the photo Brett had linked to in the earlier post.
Of course, the MH shown now belongs to the McLesters in SC

And here's my favorite (so far) of our new MH. Of course, I should mention that we were dead along the highway with our first transmission failure while bringing the prize home.

Here is mine restriped. I didn't realize this before but the one above in Ellijay, GA I believe was owned by the same person that showed my wife and kids and me around a 24', my first glimpse at the inside of one prior to geting the "bug". I guess we saw it before polishing.
Mine now sports a new canopy over it to keep it looking good.

Still "New to Us"
This is a pic I snapped on our very first trip. I had just washed her for the first time and the sun was setting. We had just enjoyed a full week in seacostal NH (the Atlantic is mere steps behind me as I snapped this photo) and we were feeling pretty good about becoming AS owners. There is something about the shape thats just "right" as far as we're concerned.
