ID:	274329This was 48 years ago, 9 months Africa bottom to tip. Myself in the middle with my friends Daniel and Elias. That Land Rover, Diesel, long bed included 3 bunks, kitchenette, 3 batteries and an engine that took all the abuse one can give, often driving 24 hour days through dust and over bushes. Came a long way to AC, bathroom, microwave and TV!

Wow, that must have been quite the adventure.
Would be fun to sit around a fire and hear stories about your trip.

You guys were looking almost like modern day hipsters.

Please share any highlights of that trip that come to mind.

Cheers Richard

This brings back memories for me too: Back in the UK in the early 70's I used to have a Land Rover 109" 2.25 diesel with a Carawagon conversion. Lots of fun, but really slow! No turbo. And I was frequently stopped by Australians and South Africans who were looking for something to drive overland back home!

Just think a few years before you a caravan of Airstreams made that trip!

Did you check your weights? The rear axel look slightly low.
