Noseart
I saw the recent post where photoshop was used to create a noseart image.
I bought my 1985 270 from a WWII B24 pilot who used it to travel to his reunions.
I found this image of Rita Hayworth after months of looking for the perfect noseart image. BTW, I replaced the 2 barrel seats with rebuilt pilot and co-pilot seats out of a Boeing 727. images to follow.

Wow! Thats great looking. I did the mock up of the P40 nose on my 345. Since my wife and I met at flight school and after some of the positive comments on the mockup I'm seriously considering doing it for real. It's great to see one out there already done up.

Steven,
You could have both!
A gleaming machine and nose are that is removable. I was looking to get some signs made and the local sign guy makes static clings in any size. You supply the Photoshop or Adobe image and he can print it.
Then you could install it and not worry about the clear coat. :0

That is a great idea. Actually it would be a good way to cover up the one bad dent I have in my passenger side fender...There's a guy here in town that I've driven buy that does similar clings for the news vans in town. Maybe I'll pay him a visit with the AS soon

Steven,
If the dent is inthe fender and reachable from the backside you may be able to CAREFULLY push it most of the way out without much work. I know Alan was able to get a golf ball sized dent that was under his windhield most of the way out and make it almost unnoticable.
The cool thing on doing it with a cling is that you can get as mild or wild with multiple peices and add or remove them as necessary.

Brett. My dent is a strange one. Kind of an "innie" and an "outie'. It looks like someone tried to hammer it out already. Kind of a hot dog shape. I'll post a pic when I get a chance. I'd like some advice on improving it.
torin knorr, lets see some pics of those chairs!

I would really like to see pictures if anyone doe put some "art" on their A/S. Here is a link of a painting of my great uncle. I'd like to see the skull on an A/S.

The image of Rita Hayworth was scanned from an orginal litho and then printed on a 3M adhesive film that is UV protected. It can be removed later... it's rated @ 90mph. Most graphic shops areset up with these materials. Beats painting them on by hand.javascript :smilie(' ')
I will photograph the pilot seats this weekend. I am adding a set of 4 six volt batteries along with a 1000 watt inverter. With the 270 layout there is lots of space under the rear sofa. I will install the battery bank along with the inverter and a seperate charger. I will keep the orginal batteries in the lower drawer and have them on a disconnect switch.
The seats are orginal, out of a 727. I found a company in SF near the airport that does all of United Airlines interiors. They liked the project and redid the seats in the orginal sheepskin and leather. When I mentioned my wife flies with United ,he threw in an additional 20% discount.javascript :smilie(' ')
These seats new cost over $20K + each! ouch...

the other choice
The other choice for my jeep was this one;
So i've hesitated for a long time but she has not the army style as the other one and the position is, may be, a bit too hot.
But she's pretty.

Here is the before shot just after I bought her. This is a 1985 270 with 60k miles. It belonged to a WW2 B24 bomber pilot. He used it just to attend his reunions with his flying buddies. he is quie a character.
I first saw this rig sitting in a driveway just south of SF, Ca. I could not help but knock on the door just to ask if I could see it closer. The owner, Bill, was more than happy to give me the tour. I later asked him if he would consider selling her, to my surprise, he said he had just sold it to a company in OKlahoma. They were going to use it as a traveling showroom to sell slot machines to the Indain casinos. Before leaving I made him an offer of $3k more than he was going to get and save him the trouble of driving to OKlahoma ( he's 83 year old). He said thanks, no thanks, he had to keep his word. Well a week later he called @ 8am sharp and accepted my offer. Now mine you, I have never driven an AS before and had no idea what I was in for.
I have spent a pile of dough in the last year, new tires, water heater, AC, Banks exhaust, new interior etc.( the drive train is great) I now have a GREAT RV. Everytime we take a trip we always get thumbs up and requests for a tour. and NO, she's not for sale!
