New - Does an Interstate Still Count:-)?

About to pull the trigger on my first Airstream -an Interstate. Just can't manage the trailer. Bu,want to make sure owning an Interstate will ensure my status as a "streamer" :-) I'm obsessed for months now - with the whole rivet world!
Also, anyone have any topics for which I should be aware on the Interstate? I'm single and buying the twin floorplan....it's a 2011 and just want to make sure I don't overlook anything during this potential purchase. I'm so excited I can hardly sleep.
And thrilled to find the FOD sight -
Thanks for any and all feedback....MJ in Colorado!

Of course it counts! I've got an Interstate, and I belong to WBCCI. With the exception of one hard-core vintage owner I've met— who genuinely thinks that the only "real" Airstreams were built before 1967 when Beatrice Foods bought the company— all of the other trailer and motorhome owners have welcomed me.

The 2011 models came with a Tripplite inverter/charger. If you're going to store yours hooked up to shore power for weeks on end, you might consider replacing it with a Magnum inverter/charger like the newer models have, and adding the temperature sensor. There's nothing wrong with the Tripplite, normally; it just doesn't know when to shut itself off.

Have no fear, you will be welcome to the Airstream community. If any one gives you any misplaced grief remind them that Airstream does not built its travel trailer frames. Both models start with a platform built by outside companies.

Whoever you're buying it from - dealer or private - ask them to give you a very thorough walkthrough of ALL features and facilities as part of the deal. That will help you understand how to manage things. It can be quite confusing first time around and you won't remember everything, but we can help you after that. Also the walkthrough will help to ensure everything is working as it should.

Welcome! I too own an Interstate (2010). It's a great vehicle, good mileage, with a ton of positive features. Yet like most motor homes you may experience occasional problems. The folks on this forum are great problem solvers. So never fear, answers to your problems will be found here. I look forward to reading these everyday. I too am single and travel with my dog. I have the large bed in back but the twin would work fine too.
Have fun and enjoy the ride!

I the exact same fear/question/worry when I bought my XC diesel. It's a Fiberglass flat/front motorhoke and other than the incredible build quality if it didn't have an Airstream badge on if nobody might know it was one. But I found out that there's a whole group of Streamers dedicated to flat fronts just like there are to Interstates. So welcome to the AS family!

I had the same worries (I bought mine last November). I have been shown otherwise at my first Airstream rally (I was one of 3 Interstates there). Great folks. Show and tell was a lot of fun. The Airstream Corporate store will not give you the warm fuzzies, but the Airstream community certainly will. Plus if the rare instance a trailer owner gives you grief, just remind them that your Interstate can tow that trailer - enough said! :-) Enjoy!

Well we own both the Interstate and a trailer. Love both of them and so does our Airstream friends. As long you own an Airstream product you are among friends.

Had the pleasure of meeting of X New Yorker - couple of weekends ago at our Region 1 New England Unit- Chilly Man Rally . Wonderful folks.

BTW X New Yorker- when are you going to tell the rest of our Air Forum friends about your dump station incident.

Judging from how many folks wanted to look in all three Interstates (including our 2007), I think they are well loved! We enjoyed meeting you X-NewYorker and catching up with you AirHog!

Hmmm..in the spirit of fun, that's a great remark. I could go the trailer route later, but this suits my needs....and can't wait for my first trip!
