Need sources for parts for a '75 Argosy

We are excited about our recent purchase of a 1975 Argosy Airstream 26' motorhome. The motorhome is equipped with the great 454 engine. We are working with it as a part of a show that will be highlighting the restoration, renovation and subsequent lifestyle of the "Airstreamer!" We are working with a mechanic in Florida who is having trouble finding parts for the mechanical restoration. The parts he really needs are all the belts and hoses, parts for the brake system, coolant system, etc. He said that the air intake and the cooling system were modified and I am not sure whether he meant that was done by Airstream or by someone after market. We really would like (and need) assistance finding sources for these parts and any information on that year make and model of Argosy Airstream?? Can anyone help us? We would so appreciate the input. We can't wait to get it on the road and meet some of our fellow "Airstreamers"! Thanks, Robert

Welcome Arinikki,

A good starting point is this thread http://www.airforums.com/forums/f311...ead-99016.html that list current part numbers and sources for most mechanical parts.

There is a huge knowledge base in the forum. But you may want to move the thread to the motorhome forum as that where most of the 'other inmates' lurk.

For no-longer available parts several members have dismantled donors (I bought a 28' donor, as a parts vehicle for the rebuild of my 20') and if there is something specific you need simply ask.

Before you get surprised when posting photos on this forum, there is a limit to the bandwidth, which you may encounter. The two ways around this are to become a supporting member (recommended), or link from an external hosting site like Photobucket.
As for the cooling system being modified, over the course of 40 or so years, someone may have been forced to be creative with a repair, or thought they had built a better mousetrap. One good example would be the air conditioning compressor, power steering, and water pump. There are sources, but you will need to figure out what you have, either by description or photos, so the rest of us can herd you in the right direction.

I am the owner of a 76 Argosy moho with the 454. Most of the drivetrain parts are still available. Rockauto is a great source for them, just make sure that the description says its for the moho. Simply look up the parts for a 197* Chevrolet P30. The parts are mostly the same from the mid/early 70s up into the mid 80s. There were some modifications from year to year but mostly the same. Like most people on this site, I would be happy to assist you with any issues you may have! Over the past few years I have gone through my drivetrain and made it to the point where I trust it driving across country and now I am starting to focus on the interior.
