Need a 310 series spare tire cover??

Does anyone know where I might purchase one or find one? I'm brand new to airstream living and about to hit the road in a couple weeks. I'm trying to dial in my home. Any advice would be helpful. Mine is one of the few drivable airstreams that they made, so looking for a fellow veteran owner of a 310 or similar to fill me in and answer my many questions

It is my understanding that the spare tire covers are NLA...
We have a more dedicated section for Classic Motorhomes within this forum.

Steve may be correct about the spare tire covers not being available. I do know the previous owner of our 310 bought a replacement cover back in 2000 or 2001. It would at least be worth a try to contact Airstream and ask if they are still available.

I seem to remember that someone else was in need last year and said they were nla.
I had a plan to pull a mould off mine before i paint it.
Might still do that.

You could probably sell one or two a year if you made a mold. Something to definitely consider!

I have a classic as well, and was very happy that the PO picked it up from NC and drove it to me in Jax, Fla. Creating a mould for those who need it is an excellent idea. You never know when the wind may blow mine off and I become a customer.

As far as I can tell, the parts that keep this from blowing off are:

1) A latch on each side that twists shut.
2) Weatherstripping in the groove that the cover fits into.

When we got our 310, only one of the latches had a bar on the inside holding the cover on. Got that fixed, but the cover was still loose enough to vibrate the latches open. Noticed that the groove that the cover fits into was designed for weatherstripping but had none. Bought some weatherstripping at a hardware store, and the cover seems pretty snug now.

I agree, the cover is poorly secured and with the negative aerodynamic pressure at the back of the MH, its easy to see why so many are lost.
Mine had clearly fallen off and been dragged by the brakelamp cable. The corner was ground through, and I had to rebuild it.

I am planning on making a mould in a month or so, so will keep you informed.

I do suggest adding a safety cable or something that will just allow the cover to tilt out far enough to release it... maybe from one of the holes in the spare wheel or something.
