I heard recently that N.A.S.A. has decided not to retire the Airstream Astrovan when shuttle flights end in late 2010. They will continue to use it for the new Constellation Program when the U.S. manned spaceflights resume in 4 or 5 years. This should be good news for Airstream lovers everywhere.
I think that it's great news that this vehicle, used to transfer our astronauts from the suit-up facility to the launch pad, is so valued and revered, that it will make the next giant leap in the U.S. Manned Space Program.
