I think that the photos may be misleading...shiny silver looking like white.
There are some coaches with painted white roofs, and it is probably a good thing to do especially in the hotter, sunny climates.
Just yesterday another 280 owner and I were talking about doing this with marine paint to keep to roof cooler.
The options are the white, paint it silver, strip it and reseal, or strip and polish. If the clearcoat is not peeling any of there will work, if it peeling you will have to strip well before doing any refinish.

Welcome to the forums. I love to see a beautiful coach like yours. These classics deserve good owners, happy to have you with us.

Quite a few of us have this same problem. We covered it in a thread some time back. Maybe we should have a roof painting rally sometime. Here is the link:

Alan and I while looking down from his window above the driveway talked about my plan to paint the top of my coach. I'm about ready to start too. I plan to do it in sections so as to work in the cool of the morning before the sun heats up the aluminum and me to the point of being unworkable. Wish I had a shop with a 14' door. My plan is to paint the roof, have my local Dupont rep shoot the bottom with the factory Imron color and then.... maybe get to finish the upper sides and lower roof in MirraChrome from Alsa. I'd rather paint it once than have to polish it time and time again....

Thanks to all for the advice

I really appreciate the information I have received since registering on the forum. Sharing personal experience and knowing that this experience comes from people that share a common appreciation for these beauties is priceless. I look forward to future discussions as I continue to restore my rig...Thanks again, Mr. D.

Let's plan to meet this summer sometime , maybe in the upper peninsula. We will make a statement in the campground with our classic motor homes.
