Motorhome Cockpit Entry

Does anyone else have difficulty with ingress or egress from the driver's chair? It just seems that there has to be a better way to get over the doghouse.

I realize that being 6'2" and 300# is not helping, but I can't believe I am the only petite fella driving one of these

Are you talking about lowering oneself into the seat from inside the motor home?

Getting in and out through the doors is not a a problem for us, but stepping over whatever is resting between our two seats (frequently, the dog) requires a bit of gymnastics. Shoes are lost, heads are bumped and muscles occasionally pulled.

So, yes!

I am talking about a 28 foot motorhome. once you are in the coach, then you have to navigate to the driver's chair. Usually this involves going over the doghouse. Getting into the chair is not as bad as getting out. Once you turn the chair your feet are right at the doghouse making it difficult to get out.

Hmmm, you are configured differently than we are. Sounds more like our old Barth, and that was a challenge.

It is and Airstream Class A and if all were this well kept, everyone would want one. It is in the Classifieds on this site. Click the yellow bar on top for full size image.

Bruce I understand what you are talking about. I personally kick my shoes off as soon as I enter my coach, I just feel more comfortable. It's much easier to get in and out of the drivers seat without heavy street shoes or boots on.

That might look big an fancy inside but it doesn't have any aluminum on the outside for those of us who suffer from the "aluminitis disease."

You can suffer or you can be comfortable.

I feel your pain Bruce, its not the easiest trip to get and out of the front seats. Ours is made a little easier with the small step in front of the dog house. The step is wide enough to get a good foothold for the wide step and drop into the driver's seat, as long as the arm rest is up!

The dog house was shaped differently on the earlier coaches.

I'm not sure when they changed the design. Mine is an 82.
