we southerners along with a couple of west and mid westerners have put on an Airstream Motorhome rally two years in a row now. We have had good times, but sparse attendance.
What is the interest level in doing this again, possibly moving the location as needed to accomodate more, stimulate more interest?
We thought of using the rally area at Camping World in Seffner,Fla, which has a terrific store, located near I-4 and I-75, and they also have a huge used motorhome sales operation to browse for fun ( can't trade our classics in...sacrilege
an ideas?
Thinking about early April--- 2004???
Let us share some ideas!
We did have a great learning and sharing experience at the Mystic Springs rally in 2002..had 7 classics there.
we are all open to date changing, but I would like to opt for a time when those of us with kids in school can bring them, such as sping break, winter break etc. We have had it on th e weekend when spring break started in GA coincidently, and it was great for us.
Just my opinion, but again I am open.
thanks, I was curious about it staying springtime.I agree about the springbreak time as I have a son in school also.
if the distance from Houston is a concern then Seffner is about 300 miles further from Pensacola/Mc David area.
How about Natchez, Ms as a place to have the Rally
that way if anyone had more time they could travel the Natchez Trace.
As a newbie it would be fun to meet everyone, thank them for their advice on our MH and learn a lot. We're planning on being back east (CT) for the arrival of our new niece in late March but depending on where the rally ends up begin held (and when) I would be very interested in attending. It would be sans kids and wife for me as spring break is early around here.
What about the Nashville area? Plenty to do and see and I might have some pull with a campground near two dealers and the Camping World. Just a suggestion.
spring is a bad time . would seem to be a good time but when you try to coordinate all the goings on you have to decide what your going to skip and that is what happened to me this year . to many rallys in one month. and ole nelly breaks , and you need time to get her back up and running. i think august is a better time for a rally. got the wbcci rally out of the way and dont want to see those folks for a while. the region is havint their rally and who cares. august would be great. lol

Havihng a rally at the factory when they debute the new classic would be a natural. Maybe we could get Airstream involved. Chris visited with the new Airstream Pres. and thought he was a pretty nifty guy. You have to take what perks you can get and visiting the factory worked when he is in Ohio on business. Now that we are within 2 weeks of being full-timers everything is almost possible. I know we would love to do it. I can't believe it less than 4 months ago it would have been impossible.

The rally at the Airstream factory sounds like a great idea. We go to my family's farm near Ridgeway, OH every summer; it is just 18 miles east of Jackson Center.
We were not able to get to the Mystic Springs rally this year due to the birth of a new grandchild in Santa Barbara, CA.
Currently we are still in Southern CA having the Isuzu Diesel engine replaced with a new Isuzu turbo Diesel. Interesting story about the new engine. It was purchased by a gentleman who built a streamliner that set a worlds land speed record for Diesel power at Bonneville in 1972 (272 + mph) His record stood for 25 years and was broken by a Mercedes factory team on an asphalt track in Germany. He purchased two brand new Isuzu 6BG1-T engines a few years ago and planned to build a new car that would surpass 300 mph in the summer of 2000. The plan did not result in the building of the car so he donated the engines to a foundation. I bought one of the new crate engines from the foundation 2 weeks ago, picked it up in Phoenix, AZ with a U-Haul trailer and brought it back to be installed here in So CA.
Our trip to Ohio will begin in two weeks or less.
As for the rally I would love to see it at the factory with a tour and the unveiling of the new Classic.
In reality if that doesn't happen , or we could get together even sooner I would be interested in Nashville if we could motivate enough others. Its close enough to Atlanta that it could be almost any weekend, and the school thing is not an issue. Any takers?
I could visit my footprints in cement there and I could drop a few bucks at Camping World
