MH on a Toyota chassis?

I wonder if a MH could be built on a Toyota chassis? That would be a break from the norm!

You better strengthen up that left leg. I looked at the specs on a few and they had manual transmissions. The axle capacities look ok, so why not?

We'll have to put an automatic in for our MH! The Coaster might be nice for a big B190 type van.

What about a Winnebago Rialta?? Looks pretty cool and is on a VW chassis.
Or a BMW Vixen (not as cool up close as in pictures, I recently finally saw one)
I still think aluminum riveted silver bullets are the sharpest RV's around.

My original thought was to forget the body! I'm talking about a aluminum MH on the Toyota chassis.

The B-van concept with the Coaster is an alternate suggestion.

One more detail, never thought about it until you put up the last 2 sites and saw the door on the LH- right hand drive. Maybe you will have to pump up your right leg.

Stop being so detail oriented!

Those things might not be in the U.S. because they may not pass our safety requirements. Who knows!

Stick with the concept! MH on a commercial Toyota truck chassis. Give Workhorse a run for their money.

They might not meet emissions. Most of them I looked at had indirect injection. Our standards are getting pretty strict for diesels and it seems like the higher direct injection pressure would burn cleaner.

But it wouldn't take that much to put in a different engine (6 cylinder, maybe turbo) and change to LH drive. An Allison would be really nice.

I own an '89 LandCruiser and I've never before seen such durability built into a vehicle. If they were to attach that level of integrity to a MH chassis, then SIGN ME UP!!!!!!

Why not build an A/S motorhome on a long nose truck chassis - like the Kingsley Coach? Check out www.kingsleycoach.com You could use widebody trailer sheetmetal, extend it down a little for basement storage, and even put slideouts on it, since you would have a strong chassis to mount then to. The best thing about it would be that the engine would be out in front under a hood where you could pull up a chair and get to it. You would also be using a proven and strong road going chassis and drivetrain. P-30's, after all, were designed to deliver bread, not to go on long over the road trips. And you would not be overloading the chassis like the 325 and 345's are. When you see a tag axle on a motorhome, you know that the mfg has exceeded the chassis design specs.
If someone has a couple hundred grand is loose change, we could get to gether and build a prototype...

I've seen that one before. Built back in the 50's or so on a VW bus chassis. The son of the original builder/owner had it on Ebay awhile back - billed as the first Airstream motorhome. I've also heard of Airstream motorhome kits that were designed to mate a partial trailer to the front half of a front wheel drive car like a Toronado or Eldo. Supposedly factory, but I have my doubts. Of course all things are possible with Airstream.
