Kohler 7000 Generator - Circuit Breakers

After trouble shooting almost everything else I finally decided to test the two white handled circuit breakers on the top right of my Kohler 7000 series generator and found them to be faulty.

More info here: http://thewildslife.com/1984-Airstre...ator_woes.html

I need replacements, but cannot find locally, any suggestions?

Same generator I have in SOB I replaced mine 1-30A and 1-20A several years ago when the 30 amp would not reset.

I never could find an exact replacement took them to (I think) Granger and bought same amp rating and physically similar that I could mount in the same space.

Necessity is the mother of invention. No luck on finding a local supplier, so I decided to see if I could fix the existing ones. How do you ask? Well WD-40 of course.

I squirted generous amounts of WD-40 into the tiny gaps around the white switches and flick them back and forth. After letting them sit for a bit so the excess drained out the bottom I used the multimeter to test for continuity. To my pleasant surprise, they worked perfectly! I still cant' really believe it worked, but I am not complaining.

NEXT Problem: the Transfer Switch in the back road side electrical compartment is not switching over even after the generator has been running for 15 minutes. The Transfer Switch under the curb side closet for the rear A/C is working. I can hear it click and when not plugged in to shore power, the rear A/C gets power. I am not sure, but I will see if there is some way to fix the Transfer Switch.

I physically pressed the switch down and the generator was able to provide power to AC outlets, so something is not working right with the automatic transfer of power. Any thoughts on this one?

Wow...only 162 hours on that generator!!! I thought mine was low at 500 hrs on a 1997 Landyacht. Hope you get it running cause it needs to be exercised under load.

Hello Garry, I couldn’t read the writing on both breakers. Are you saying that one is a 20 amp and one is a 30 amp? If yes which one goes where? Thanks, Michael
