Help and advice on selling

Hi

We are trying to sell our Airstream to a guy in Arizona. It is currently in California and registerd there. We found the buyer through the classified section on this site.

However (this is the tricky bit) we are in the UK.

We didnt realise how complicated it would become to sell, the more we look at the DMV web site the more confused we become.

Firstly we need a title, this we dont have, either we lost it, or as some sections of the DMV suggest it could be a paperless one, whatever that is (I am trying to speak to the person I bought it from about that) It "seems" simple enough to sell without this title though if you fill in a form (REG 227) which is an application for transfer of title with duplicate sale.

Is this so? is it that simple? This form needs to be Notarized and I am not too sure if a UK Notary would cut the mustard.

The buyer is a bit weary of this lack of title. He also thinks he does not need us to do a smog test, as he is driving it out of state (back to Arizona) is that correct?

Is it possible to sell a vehicle in California if you are not actually there? Our storage agent is happy to do bits and pieces such as hand over the keys and stuff, but beyond that she cant do much.

I know this is way off topic, sorry in advance. Any advice would be most welcome.

Sounds like a real headache. Have you thought about useing a RV Broker for your sale. It would cost you, but it might take care of some of the paper work trouble.
Take a look at this it might get you on the right track. http://www.themotorhomebrokers.com/
I am not suggesting you use them this is just an example.
Good Luck

Where is the vehicle located? If it's colse to 92867 ( South of Los Angeles) then I can probably help you. I have some good friends in the auto business, and they can do a transfer via a power of attorney etc.
we'd have you sign it, and mail it back and then the transfer can be done by an agent.
No smog certification needed to go to Arizona.
