My Onan would not start a while back and I called my local RV place that has a sign in their office that says they do generator work. There is also a notice on the bulletin board regarding the newer onan Generators. In a nutshell it states that they cannot adjust any of the newer onan carbs, They must replace them as a unit. No rebuilds only new OEM. I am lucky enough that I have an antique one so they were able to adjust it, but it seems that fewer things today are repairable.

Thanks for the support. I don't write much on this site due to time but I read the posts almost every day. Your input is helpful.

Thanks

Ps. Keep praying..

Here is the latest on the generator. It is not the windings but the armature that is fried. 1,300 plus labor to have it rewond. Is that good or bad for a price?

What do you guys think?

Paul.

I have to second Peter's post. I would spend some more and just replace it. Then you know you have a 100% new unit, and not have someting else fail 10 hours after you install it.

Toast the generator!!!!! I dumped more money into my old one that never ended up working. I bought the Honda 6010 generator for all in around $3,000. It's very quiet and water cooled. Everytime I took my old generator in it cost me $500+ and sounded like it was going fall apart at any minute. I got tired of worrying about whether my generator would start or not on those hot days and if it did would it stay on for more than 30 minutes.

I'm a happy camper now.
Just my thoughts on the money-pit.
Ken
