Gas Detector

A Gas Detector is mounted in the gallery area near the flloor in my l987 Airstream 345. The manual does not specify which gasers it detects, Propane? Monoxide?, Gasoline fumes?
Does anyone know for certain whether or not it is supposed to detect carbon monoxide?

Gas Detector

It's a propane detector. Propane is heavy and settles to the floor. That's why it is mounted low.

Just checked the manual and it claims to detect only LP gas.

On a less practical basis, the detector in my old trailer kept going off in the middle of the night when I overnighted in a rest area between two idling 18-wheelers. I turned on the Fantastic fan and the alarm stopped. So it will, at least somewhat, detect other gasses.

OK Thanks John - my manual (for the motor home) does not clearly define detecting propane - it just says "detects gases".
In view of your comments, I am going to go ahead and add two Carbon Monoxide detectors - one in the galley area and one back in the bedroom. Thanks again,
