Cost of a new water heater

Merry Christmas!!Since its late I'll get straight to the point. We are traveling and are in New Port beach. We lost hot water a day ago and I had some time to investigate tonight. I found the carpet and floor wet under the couch wet but not soaked and the cardboard socked several inches up. I tried to upload a pic but it's taking forever. I'm assuming I'll need to replace it and will look for someone local tomorrow. Possibly the dealer. How much should I expect without taking it on the chin?

Cody, the last two water heaters I bought were from ebay and cost about $380 each. There were propane/ac type heaters.

I would expect the dealer to be several hundred more just for the heater plus your install at probably $100/hr. Hard to say how many hours to do the job but I would bet a minimum of about 3.

Post #2 sounds about right - I don't do a LOT of labor myself but I DID to a "tool gofur" role when a neighbor with a SOB moho replaced his. I think with a helper I'd be able to do this job myself. It's the wiring parts that worry me, but if the wires are color coded I'm good.

Physically manhandling the water heater into place is awkward but doesn't require massive strength. A lot depends on whether you have to disassemble half of the inside to get it wired up. Kinda looks like my 25 FB might be one of those... your classic moho? Get the .pdf drawings.

I hesitate to mention this - but with big bucks you could get a tankless water heater. On a cold day like today endless hot water sounds aaaahhh! Ask Lewster what model would work safely for your Moho.

I'm just getting around to updating my post from the trip. Thanks to all of you for the help on random issues that popped up. The issues with the water heater turned out to be power loss to the switch. A light switch was messed with the day we left and power to the water heater was jumped off of that wire. The leak near the tank was a loose clamp from the hose that circulates antifreeze to heat water while driving. Once we robbed power again it was fine. When it comes time to replace the tank ill definitely go tankless.
