battery isolator

Hi,
I was told I need to replace my battery isolator. I am clueless as to what to get. The one in there gives me no indication as to what power it is and looking in the catalogs is no help. Any of you experts out there know what direction to point me in?? BTW my coach is an '84 345.
Thanks!
Eric

My '85/86 345 has a Cole Hersee Co. Model 48120 Isolator. Max Amps 140, 12-36 Volt, Negative Ground. My '82/83 310 had the same isolator, so yours should be the same.

at the auto parts store they usually have 2, the smaller square one and the bigger rectangular one. The one you need would depend on your alternator output (amps).
You couldn't go wrong with the bigger one.

Eric , its hard to believe your isolator went bad ,but if it did infact go bad I would recommend using Sure Power Industries battery isolators I have used over 100 of them over the past 18 years at my place of employment and have never had a failure of the isolator, we have seen corrioded connections cuasing them not to work but never an outright failure of the diodes themselves. Before you replace it I would try cleaning all the connections . And as Peter stated it can never hurt to go bigger ,if you do end up replacing it . Here is the url to Sure powers site http://www.surepower.com/Products/batiso.asp Tom

There is one sure way to blow an isolator:
Reversing battery cables on the coach batteries.
But who would be so stupid to do that??
Now I will go and stand in the corner.
