Argosy 24 MH Fuel Capacity Question

Is 50 gallons the standard fuel tank capacity on a 78 Argosy 24? I did a search and checked the tank matrix but there is no info.

I will update my site when the answer arrives!

I imagine that 50 gallons is the most common. 28.5 gallons at 7 mpg gets you a whopping 199 miles on a tank. The 50 gallon tank would have been my first option selected!

Outbound,

The 50 gallon tank was part of the incomplete chassis from GM. There should be a build sticker under the hood on the firewall somewhere with the info. i do not think any of them came with a small tank. I know some folks have larger ones in newer/larger motor homes.

All Motorhomes are built on an Incomplete Chassis. I think the only ones that are not are Bluebird, and Prevost. all others are on a mass produced chassis that comes from one of the big 3, or a custom chassis company affiliated with an OTR truck manufacturer. Freightliner, and Spartan are the two I can think of off the top.

No worries, this is normal in the RV world. Every motorhome is a custom hand built machine. They NEVER make them exactly alike.

Fuel Tank Capacity

I just happen to have my Airstream Motorhome 1979 Owners Manual on hand and as a referenced on pg. 61 it specifes:

Fuel Tank (cap.approx.)_____US Measure_____Imperial Measure
Standard 24 Ft.______________24.0 Gallons_______20.0 Gallons
Optional (24 Ft.)_____________50.0 Gallons_______41.7 Gallons
Standard 28 Ft.______________50.0 Gallons_______41.7 Gallons
