Drive train u-joints

New u-joints can set up a viabration if they are out of phase. Not sure I can describe how you can tell by looking at the drive shaft but any good drive train tech can look and tell. It is a simple fix you have to disconect the drive shaft at one end, rotate it 90 deg and reinstall.

Thumbs up Awesome Adventure!!!

Hats off to You and Edie!!!

I just read Part 1,2, & 3 and I'm impressed with how you handle all of what you've been through, plus the upgrades that you've made.

I can't wait to see the final product!!!!

Chas started it.
Knowing Brett, I kept the existence of this MH a secret for 18 month.

If you look at the u-joints, they should all look like a single u-joint from front to back, that is, none tilted one way or the other, all square with each other.
It one of them (usually the rear) is off by a spline or more, it will set up a vibration.

All of the U joints were replaced, and the driveshaft was balanced with the carrier bearing installed. I have checked it and the Ujoints line up as they should. I think the issue was when they reinstalled it the carrier bearing was cocked. I have since adjusted it and the vibration I felt is barely there. I am also getting some tire vibration from a front tire at ledd than 65 so I may just have a suspension harmonic now.

The slip joint is about the only place where the drive shaft could get out of phase and the splines are ground so that can't happen, one is double width.

Hey Chas!

Since you are currently without a unit to work on you should see if you can get that one a few posts back for a song and have a winter project.
