1989 290

Good Morning, I am looking at a 1989 290. I'm curious where do you get parts for these. As an example the seal that goes around the driver and passenger windows? Also where do you get the wood grain?
This one has 65k miles and does run good.
Needs a lot of clean up, new tires, the dash ac made to work. My major concern is getting strange parts.
Thanks, Debra

Hi Debra, welcome to Airforums!

The window seals are readily available from Airstream dealers across the country. If you end up buying we can point you to threads where members explain how the seals are replace and provide part numbers as well. Any reasonably mechanically inclined person can do the work.

I'm not sure about the wood grain but I would bet that dealers can source that as well.

The motorhome owners of the forum have learned over the years where to find those odd hard to find parts so just ask and someone is bound to speak up.

By the way, we like pictures on this forum

Brad

I read a post recently that stated the wood grain stripes are available. I just don't recall where I saw it. Someone on the forum will be able to help you.

If this link does not work, Airstream Supply has the woodgrain stripe advertised:

I posted yesterday that we got the 290. I'm having a time figuring out this site so please bare with me.

My next question. The gray paint on the bottom and around the window. Is
there a number so I can have matching paint made or is there a place to
get it already made?

She is getting her first bath today. And no I still have not figured out how to post pictures.

Thanks
Debra

Debra,

I can't help you with the paint but for adding pictures there are two ways to do it.

The first is click on the paper clip above the editing window. It should pop up a window that will walk you through attaching pictures that are located on your local computer.

The second method is to click on the little yellow box just below and to the right of the paper clip which will open up a window for "inserting" or linking to pictures. That button allows you to provide links to pictures that are being hosted on some other website.

Let me know if you still have difficulties adding pictures.

Brad

Dupli-color T-183 is an exact match. There is a new Dupli-color number but you can still find it under T-183. I've used it and it is a match.

Hi all
I have just spent the last 2 years getting my 310 motor home from the US to Australia... It is starting to come together, it is now at the polishers, so I am looking forward to that part of the restoration being finished.

It seems that my 1983 310 was used by the US Airforce as it still has the Airforce badges on the side but there is also a number on the roof 14979
This number would probably explain a lot about the history of the airstream .. which hopefully someone might well be able to shed some light on.. Here is a picture ( pre-polish )

Neil, welcome to the obsession. You deserve congratulations for the perseverance that it must have taken to get the 310 to Australia.

Here are my guesses in answer to your questions:

If your floorpan is the standard Airstream RV setup, The badges were put there by someone proud of their association with the Air Force.

If the numbers are large and red, they are a membership number for the Wally Byam Caravan Club Int'l, (WBCCI).

Please post photos after polishing is done.
