1981 28' Ecella Diesel MH

Hello, as usual I am getting no help from dealer parts depts., so since I am finally getting to try to get my MH on the road, I am relieved to be able to turn to you. For starters, is there anywhere I can get a rebuild kit for the brake master cylinder? Does anyone have a copy of the manual for the 1981 for sale? I'd appreciate any and all advice. I'm looking forward to getting to meet some of you soon. Thank you so much.

The new master cylinder should be available at any of your local parts stores, or they should be able to have it in a day or two. Just specify that it is a Chevy p30 series motorhome chassis. I believe that I bought mine through Amazon. Im not sure about a rebuild kit. Good luck.

I saw them listed on RockAuto (eg this is the link for an Argosy MH on a P30 (https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,c...52FWheel%2BHub)), as mayco says make sure you select the MH chassis option.

Some resources are here: Document Archive - Airstream
To get a detailed manual, you will need to contact airstream and ask them which manual works for your year, because they do not list 81 model year on their site: https://store.airstream.com/product/...owner-manuals/ Be insistent with them. Sometimes their customer service is quick to dismiss questions about the classics, because they are not making them any money at the moment.

Welcome

NAPA, Autozone or Pep Boys should carry all parts for your rig other than the engine as the P30 chassis is everywhere. A master cylinder is only 75.00 or so dollars. The weird thing is that Airstream turned the master around and mounted it backwards (at least on mine).
For suspension stuff go Henderson.

As for manuals you may find yours on Keyairs manual sticky on the Classics page in the motorhome forums. Others like me do have hard copies of the engine shop manual.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f311...ead-95034.html

As for parts for the engine it can be a mixed bag. Hamilton Marine is pretty good, but some of the parts on our rigs are not replaceable per say. For example the turbo is a Rajay (no longer in business) unit that can be replaced by a suitable Garret turbo but the housings will require adjustments for fitment.
Just beware of ordering parts for fuel management as there are different types of 6BD1A's. An excavator 6BD1A will run a different governor and other parts.

Don't be afraid to modify and replace items that fail with newer better parts. For example I replaced my old compressor with an ARB twin cylinder unit and I'm using two 5 gallon aluminum holding tanks for air.

When you are ready come on over to the Classics section and introduce yourself with some pics.

Cheers
Tony

I have a set of owners and service manuals on pdf. PM me your email address and I will send them to you. As mentioned Hamilton Engine in Portland, OR. is the go to place for anything engine related. The chassis and running gear is P-30 Chevy and most everything is readily available. The knowledge base here can help you with just about anything on your coach, with the exception maybe of your door bell.

Welcome to the forum. I have the same 28' Excella with the Isuzu diesel. While you are in changing your mastercylinder, you may want to check your waterpump. I was not aware that the isuzu diesels have a zerk (grease)fitting to lubricate the shaft. My mechanic advised that it looked like it had not been greased and was very worn, is replacing the waterpump, radiator and all the hoses etc right now. He told me about the fitting. The waterpump is hard to get so he found a place that rebuilds in Arizona.
In general this is the type of thing I would do myself, but it is cold in Chicago and I am getting wimpier to the cold.

Hope your's treats you well.
