1978 Excella 24' Motorhome

I just bought a 1978 Excella 24' motorhome for 10,000. I am convinced that Airstream quality makes it a good buy. I have always been in Airstreams since I was a Kid, now I have one. Is there anything I should know about this particular unit?

I was told that the 454 will get 10-13 MPG am I dreaming? Also how can I find out what the inside furnishings were like when it was new?

you are probably dreaming on the mileage, unless it had some mods done like a Banks Power pack or electronic ignition.
It is realistic to get 7-9 mpg though.
As for the furnishings what is there now? Are you trying to determine the fabric or the actual set up?
Good luck with your new to you RV hope it turns out to be as much fun as mine has.

Check out my site by clicking on the link below. I have photos of 79 and 81 Excella 28' units. I'd love to see photos of your unit. If you wouldn't mind e-mailing them to me at fredhinds@yahoo.com or posting them at Airstreamphotos.com. Thanks.

Many of the older units have been updated. It's hard to tell what the original interior was at the time. My site should give you some hints.

There are no furnishings on the curb side. I was given all the documentation and now hve the floor plan.

Is it possible to find airstream furnishings? I like the MH so far, it drives and runs good.
