Great collector piece, but I would bet it can't get out of its own way on the road. A VW Vanagon had what 43 HP?

Yep 43 hp sounds right. That's what my 63 bus was rated. That had a old swing arm rear suspension. Dump the clutch and the back end jumps up instead os squating. LOL.
You could easily swap a early 70's 1800 pancake good for 80hp in it and it would not be too bad.
