Outstanding job. I just seen this thread today. I was blown away by the house windows....... amateur major mistake. Yeah the windows are s shame. Great work otherwise.

I'm into vintage cars 1934 to be exact. How many friends, family, or complete strangers look at the open roofs of these cars and suggest a sunroof. There are certain things in life which is almost unexceptable. Maybe there is a financial aspect to it also. After the windows were yanked every dollar " invested" was to the wind just my opinion.

If comfort and function is what you are after good for you the hard work you have put into this is obvious. I'd personally be worried about resale

Thanks for the reply, ya lesson learned I should have saved the old windows and just sold them to someone.

As for the new ones I love them especially that it is a full time house for me keeps it all a nice indoor temp of around 68-74 even with 110 outside temperatures.

I think it is awesome and if it suits you nobody else's opinion counts .
Like you we have no intentions of ever selling the Tin Tipi. instead we will will it to one of our grandchildren who camps.

I guess people on this forum have bad eyesight.

I think this Airstream looks like an abomination - Ugliest windows I've ever seen and can't imagine why anyone would every install home depot windows in a Vintage Airstream.

Man what a shame...

Sometimes it's best to think it not say it.

Why?
The problem on this thread is people kept their mouths shut - Nobody commented how ridiculous those horribly ugly rain drip caps plastered all over the body are looking and ripping out old windows to add home depot house windows??

I'll say it again, this guy totally ruined what was a really nice Globetrotter.

This is a polite forum.

Even though I'm sure lots of people didn't care for the windows they did appreciate the hard work and effort he put into making it his own and his realistic expectations of keeping in the family.

Just because we have vintage Globetrotters doesn't meant me have to keep to the original asthetic.

There is an ‘edit’ function, but it goes away about 30 minutes (I think) after you make the post

I'm sure it's all good.

It's a public forum full of opinions and I bet he realizes those windows were not the usual choice.

We'll be watching your as it's in great condition. Ours is a 61, all original but needs work.

Please keep us posted when you start to work on yours - My 1963 19' GT needs cabinets either stripped or re-painted and some floor work near door - Some previous owner painted all the cabinets white and blue.
Going to replace the split rims and cracked tires - get some nice period correct hubcaps - I have restored a few of my Airstream's and need to get motivated to begin this one which we will keep. We don;t use them much but love having them to look at and they make a great man cave!

All the best.
