Nice truck wahoonc. Maybe we need to start an airstream/f350 forum? Seems everyone on here relies on one.
And thanks overlander and sea. I appreciate the advice. And it seems like us Mississippians are growing in numbers and making up for a large part of the forum.

I had quite a bit of pitting in my interior panels too. After the stripping was done I fine sanded mine starting (I think) with 400 and working finer and finer before polishing. Don't think you'll get all the pitting out, but I don't notice it in mine--it looks good enough for me.
Think about pulling those panels off and stripping outside on a flat surface. Sure worked easier for me and you'll need to pull the panels off anyway.
Cheers,
Steve

I do agree, removing all interior panels and laying them flat, makes it much easier to strip.. also takes a lot less stopper as it does not run down the walls.. put a thin coat on.. let it sit over night and then scrape it of..
Im considering of only polishing my interior panels slightly.. not to a mirror shine.. this will leave some character to it, as they are original.. if i would have wanted a perfect shine, i would have more than likely replaced all panels though...
just my two cents.. :-)
good Luck and keep us updated

Thanks bud. I had considered doing the stripping with them out but scared I would bend them from applying too much pressure and whatnot.

Hi: 1962GT:
I just got a 65 Overlander 26 foot and today is my first demolition day.
Hang in there and enjoy the process.
Somebody a couple decades ago saved me the trouble of gutting it so I got
nothing but a shell on rotten tires.
Girl and I are not decided on whether to make it a Cabin, food vendor or go
the full and very expensive route to make it road legal and fully functional
travel trailer. I'm in touch with one couple that did just that and they are
cautioning me on the money side of things. I looked at their blog on the restoration and they then put a thousand miles on it but it did not hold up as well as they thought despite doing everything by the book. Best of luck...Del

I've got a question for y'all. I'm curious as to what color all the lights were on the exterior. I don't know if my trailer had a special package or not but I have three lights above windows on front and rear. Also on front I have a light just below window on either side. Then I have your brake lights in back. Then your side marker lights. All of mine are faded to clear or either missing. The reason I ask if this was a special package is that all the ones I pulled up online only a few had the three lights on front and back. Also where is a good place to buy these lights. And are brake lights two bulb or one? Thanks in advance.

Yellow on the three at the top front. Red at the top back. Front running lights are yellow and the rear are red. Newer plastic ones look goofy on a vintage...look for old tear drops with aluminum bases. Less than 4$ at Vintage Supply and on the Ebay pages. Tail lights can vary from the two bulb and single bulb. Be careful when you work the wiring...it is always to short and you can loose the wire inside the wall. If your removing the interior anyway...do all the wiring too.

We plan on redoing the wiring as it is now. I'm just trying to make the outside look nice and have some lights where I could pull it if need be. Also I plan on trying to keep the original look and not change the outside. Thanks for the info, if anyone else knows anywhere to buy lighting it would be more than appreciated. And was this a special package?

Sisters!
You have a sister to my baby, Bubbles. I am 192D252, so your baby was born slightly earlier in the year, 100 GT units to be exact.
Lights can be found at Vintage Trailer Supply Vintage Trailer Supply - parts and supplies for vintage travel trailers and campers!
They are also on Facebook.
I am going to start my full monte soon and my shopping list for VTS is $izeable. Luckily they are less than a days drive, and Montpelier VT is a lovely place to have lunch and walkabout.
Congrats!! Globies are such a nice size, not too big , not to small, just right! IMHO.
Have you given her a name?
As for wiring, they had both 12v and shore (hence the double light bulbs in the fixtures), no converter. You may want to upgrade that to an Intellipower. Might make life easier not having to manually switch. And LEDs are so efficient.
They also had that honkin' heavy steel fresh water tank and air compressor under the front gaucho. You may also want to change that out to an ABS tank and on-demand pump. Not hugely expensive but would beat a blowout any day, no rust, can be decontaminated, water level usually can be seen and, is much, much lighter.
The other thing is... have you started stripping the end caps yet? Are they aluminum? Mine are fiberglass, there is a good chance yours are too.
Oh, and check this Airstream=Performance vid out, jaw dropping.
Have fun!
Leonie

I meant poly tank, not ABS.
Sorry,

Options
I had a really good look at your pictures and am not sure about those clearance and safety lights around the front and rear. They look pretty old but are in a funny place, perhaps they were added by a PO?
You have an extendo rear bumper and a tool box as we do. I had always assumed that the extension was done by a PO but maybe it was an option that was offered by Airstream in 1962, so the lights could be too? Mystery!
Any other streamers out there with lights like this??
Leonie

Clearance Lights
Top has a '62 Globie with clearance lights,
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f155...ter-75357.html
Most of the pics I have seen have teardrops in an arc and higher up, or a row of lights, also higher.
