hi shari, it looks very similar to yours,in fact so similar that since i got the computer two weeks ago and dont know all the features on it yet,i have been using your 64 picture for my screensaver (somehow i managed to drag it into my pictures file ) I tried the other day to get into my dell pictures studio, movie maker and roxio too,to find out abot the upload from digital camcorder,to my airstream photos picture library.ive tried a few things but not managed to upload. i would like to do a site like the one of yours that was done so well.i did manage to load a few still pics to my movie studio but im not sure how to get them into the airstream photos site.could you walk me thru it when you have time.maybe ill make it to the colorado rally and see yours. are you going?

Sure Wayne...I'll help when I have some time...I just got back into town so it's pretty hectic today, maybe I'll be able to carve out some time tonight. I'll PM you some picture "tips".
As far as the CO VAC Rally, I'm actually the "Wagon Mistress" so yes, I'm attending... It was a blast last year, we had several '63 & '64 GlobeTrotters in attendence...would love to have you join us with your '62! It's a great way to compare similar units side-by-side and swap notes...
And of course, we're also going to the AirstreamForum.com rally in NM too! Lokks like this'll be a good one too, albeit smaller and more diverse!
Chat more later!

wow,ill have to decide which one would be better for vintage ,which will be the larger event, whats closer( not that it really matters from here) i dont think the distance to nm will be too much farther, can you tell me how to get on mapster or mapquest when you e mail me?and dont hurry i am out on disability recovering from a hernia surgery with time to spare.it looks like our local santa clara unit of the w.b.c.c.i has events planned at the same times as the co&nm forums&vac; so ill have to weigh it out at this end also, and get rite back to you on it.(june 20th to22nd here will be an airstream meet at laguna seca raceway) and august 8-10 here will be the airstream meet at neils vineyard in vacaville ca;but im sure to get to go to one of yours.let me know how&where to send reservations for both(.i just missed out on the napa ca. meet here may 8-11th by not reg in time) my other e mail add waywund at a.o.l .com will be closing down, and the present wonderful62@earthlink.net is being re configured to'' incredemail '' today but should stay the same.talk to you again, thanks then wayne/.

62 GT
Hi- I have recently acquired a 62 Globetrotter down in SW Georgia & towed it up to New England last month-also, I've just registered with this forum. The one we got has some unoriginal carpeting and cabinetry and needs polishing; otherwise, it tows nicely- haven't gotten around to trying out appliances/plumbing etc.Hoping to get it 1/2way presentable this month and drag it up to Burlington to shop for goodies, compare rigs, etc. at the WBCCI International. Also hoping to post some photos as I progress with this 'project'; oh yeah, plan to attend Dead/Willie Nelson shows and Allman Bros. campouts in early summer- see y'all there!(hahaha) CB Rollins South Amherst Massachusetts

whats up cror boy, finally i hear from another 62 globetrotter, well lucky for you, if you need any manuals on the trailer(they didnt have owners manuals fof our year)they were all seperate and i have them all.i see your in the new england/mass area. i was born there in conn.and lived in ansonia/derby to69 then came to sunny calif.about the unoriginal carpeting, you should have asbestos tile underneath.mine cleaned up well.the cabinetry in mine as all original and in remarkable condition.original upholstery (mexican serenade).do you have the beige 3 burner oven? the yellow-beige norcold fridge, carlton gas wall heater and bowen gas water heater? I would have all your manuals for everything on the complete trailer.now you know.think ill go eat a peach, and you just mite see me at the burlington vermont rally. keep in touch ,id like to hear more about your 62 globetrotter as i have never seen another one, there seems to be a lot more older and newer and that year gets left out.id like to see some pics, and dont hesitate to e mail me if you need something wayne wunder 1962 19ft globetrotter. is your toilet and holding tank original?i would have all the blow apart diagrams repair part nos etc all appliance manuals etc.my 98 yr old neighbor was the original owner and left all the sales invoices?original papers intact when she passed away 10 yrs ago.

Thats why they call me 'Shine'...
Oooh boy- I'm getting into the compounding- do an hour or two a day; seems like I've done a first pass of about a third of it in four days. Hoping to get it to where I can start actually polishing by end of the week but it kinda depends on the weather. Still trying to figure out if kitchen stuff was on the door side originally- could your order it either way? Tried out lights and a/c but haven't tried the fridge or the range yet - leaving the plumbing for last!

A/C;Fridge
A/C is a new unit and the fridge is a replacement;the air is a roof pod deal in the rear roof vent. Yes I've been using NuVite but it smells better than it tastes...

Hi you guys, enjoyed your chat!
Say, just bought one here in Minneapolis. Not sure we have the right tow vehicle for our Globetrotter? Do you know how much yours weigh? And, Wayne, how do I get an owners manual?
Looking forward to more chatting!
Many thanks in advance for your help!!!

From the Vintage Airstream website FAQ's section:
Quote:
Q: I need an owners and service manual for my Airstream. Where can I get one?
A: The first owners manuals were published in 1964. Prior to that, the owner received a brown envelope containing parts lists and other helpful information on the accessories in his trailer. The VAC has started making these available in the Members Archive section. A service manual with instructions for performing service operations did not exist until 1972.
You can get photocopies of owners manual (1964+) and service manuals (1972-1986) from:
Helen Davis Secretarial Services
PO Box 484 Sidney, OH 45365
(937)492-8885
Prices are about $33 and $70 respectively. After 1986 the Owners Manuals included available service information.

Sorry Elizabeth, doesn't sound like they were available in 1962 ~

hi elizabeth, thanks for the reply, answer to your first question,i think the 62 19ft globetrotter weighjs in about 2200 lbs empty. question no two there were no owners manuals for 62, however i would have everything for the 62 airstream globetrotter . ive been a little busy but if you would like i can make you some copies to send and you can just cover the postage. im in california./ the seperate manuals contain info on the bowen gas water heater, the carlton gas wall heater, the magic chef 3 burner oven, the norcold fridge, the water tank and demand pump, and the pedamatic toilet and many other things.im not sure how to properly get in touch with you or get your e mail address but im sure we can work something out. all for now, wayne wunder,w.b.c.c.i./v.a.c.#1859 62 globetrotter/99 safari

1962 Globetrotter, Ohio model
Hi. Just purchased one myself. Left some questions on the restoration page. I'll have an owners manual once it gets towed home, if anyone needs info from that. Would welcome advice with regards to restoration. So the icky carpet is not original then? Is it bad form to rebuild the gaucho and dinette with wood that's not original? -Maya

Please let me know how your restoration is going, I have started my full restoration of my 1962 19' globetrotter. If anyone knows where I can find a lens for the 4 1/2 porch light I would appreach it. Inland says NLA.

Julia:
Do you mean the Signal Stat brand 4" diameter clear plastic lens that is held into an exterior wall "scare" light fixture with 3 screws? If so, they are still available at larger truck stops and automotive light shops, may be even large NAPA stores. Also look on Ebay.
