Two things - (1) that suit is real funny (but a must) with pink respirator..... (2) you have more pictures of the tractor?

Great find, keep the pictures rolling.

You like tractors? Obviously, so does my husband. He likes to line them up like matchboxes sometimes. Kinda like me & Airstreams....except I don't have quite as many as he does. I try not to know. That's his deal! Gotta love him, though! He humors me with my obsession!

Cool

You don't see THAT every day!!

I agree, SWEET tractors. Looks like you have your work cut out for you, but great find! Glad it found a good home!

I had to do a double take on the semi behind you. It looked like it said "Monte", which is what you're going to have to be doing to get this thing back on the road.

Keep us posted!

What an exciting experience! Thanks for posting the pictures. It looks pretty overwhelming right now, but it will be so worth it. What a cute trailer! It's the perfect size!

What a great find, Becky.

I recommend that you try and keep as much of the hardware, lights, sconces, sinks, faucets, byam hooks, etc... that's in your trailer to retain the period feel in your restoration.

Good luck with your restoration and have fun. We sure have had fun restoring our '58.

I'm so happy this poor abandoned Bambi is going to have a new home. I can't help but feel so sorry for her abandoned like that

Always wanted a tractor, but with only 4 acres of manicured lawn and on a slight hill I only have a commercial zero turn mower. I just cannot justify a tractor but I do borrow one from a friend once a year for "heavy yard work".

Looks like you have some work cut out for you - my wife would have a fit if I brought one home - never mind what the POA would say. We already have two in the yard.

Mike

Congradulations! That is a great find! I am very happy for you and for the Bambi. I am surprised that the shell is in such great shape with no dents.

No dents, but one spot of corrosion all the way through on the streetside. I'll probably replace that panel when I get to that sequence of the redo. I'm sure I'll have lots of reading to do & questions to ask about that process! At least it's a straight panel. Anyone have a buck rivet gun for rent!?

Tractors and Airstreams

I like the tractor pictures. Here is a couple of a 57 overlander that I originally bought for parts but ended up selling to BradS and he is bringing her back to life now.

Hey Becks e-bay always has good used ones listed from $20 to $50. They come from the aircraft industry. Look for one that has been refurbished.

So can you walk in the thing or do you just step through the floor? Shell on or Shell off restoration? Can't wait to watch your progress!

I actually can walk in it. It's definitely going to be a shell off restoration. My son has already volunteered to make me a new frame. Speaking of which, would it be a terrible thing to make the front end of the frame a bit longer so a box could fit up there (or something like that). He wants to do that, but I'm not sure if that would be a good idea. Would it detract from the value (if it's ever finished)? He's of the opinion that it would be faster for him to make a frame & install new & larger grey, black & water tanks below than to wire wheel & repair the old one (we haven't seen it yet). Por-15 will be sprayed this time (hopefully not all over me!)

I did some clean up the past couple of days. I still have to get the bathroom out. I'm trying to keep the pan from the shower intact, so I'm trying to be careful removing the walls. I found two raccoon skulls in there. Yuck! The really nasty stuff (foam rubber, leaves, insulation, pooh, etc. etc.) is all out now, so I'm finished with the respirator. My husband wears that thing & the suit when he sprays for bugs in our greenhouses. I have a whole new respect for him--that thing is HOT and it was cool outside when I wore it!
Yesterday, the Bambi II (I don't have a name for it yet) came home to our back yard. She's tucked in front of the '86. My husband had to do some welding to enable the hitch to hook onto my Expedition.
