Bambi II Saved from Recycler!

I taped all the exterior tear drop lights & Tempro'd the outer edge of them. I'm sure it was the wire that was blowing the air out, as I sealed all of the olympic rivets with tempro when I put them in. I also sealed them on the inside. I put plumbers putty in the wire hole so IF they ever need to be removed & changed, the wire can be pulled (my DH insisted upon this ) I probably should give the hillbilly sealtech another test to see if I get bubbles again. Should & will may be two different things! I'm sick of tempro!

Finished laying the flooring tonight. My hubby & I laid the center first & let it set for a couple of days. Then we fit the edges. He scribed, I ran in the house & cut rounded edges on the bandsaw & then touched them up with a table-top belt sander. I used Armstrong VCT in a classic black (it does have white flecks in it) & used about 1 3/4 boxes. Pretty inexpensive flooring. I reminds me of my youth!

I have really sore knees from crawling around on the floor & installing the black tank & shower pan! It took me a while, but I finally got them in, & got them in right! It was tuff due to the fact that the plumbing underneath was larger than original. I asked on the forums for advise on shimming, but no one helped me out, so I winged it.

I screwed everything together, so the shims should stay put.

I even got the shower pan so it drains into the drain!

I also have stripped all of the interior window frames & shined them up with discs (not a true polish job). They're all back in.

I still have to do the screens, which are a big mess too.

I'm having a lot of thoughts about the side wall of the bathroom. Originally, they put the wall right through the window. So, in order to open the window, you have to have long arms so you can reach around the wall into the bathroom & the other crank is on the other side of the wall. I've put a piece of tape where the original wall went.

I hate the wall through the window. What do you think about a half wall on the bottom with a headder on top? I could make something to cover the hole for showers, etc. My brain is working on this one!

Looks good Becky, First thought on the window is some kind small sliding window in the wall that could be closed when shower is in use or a little pocket door??

I spent some time yesterday & today making walls. First, I hillbilly chromed the extrusions that I took off of the old walls.

I found some neat maple plywood with a lot of character to it that I'm using for the walls & maybe the panels of my cabinet doors.






I'll be putting up two walls sandwiched together at the south end of the couch. They'll have some wood between them for mounting the tv bracket onto. I think I'll use some oak between, so it won't strip with movement. I've just got it clamped together because I'm waiting for the new extrusion for that wall to come next week.

I'm making a half wall instead of a wall through the window in the rear. I'll come up with something for the opening (maybe a small shower curtain).

This was their solution for the screen:
It was held in place with a screw, but you had to remove it & bend the screen to get it out.....weird! I'll be making a new frame for the rear window.

Oh, and I forgot to put the picture of the dog that cracks me up.....she thinks she's a human! Watchin' for ducks, smellin' the smoker, guarding the Airstream.....what could be better?

My hubby plumbed the grey tanks to the shower pan today. He's going to run the grey water from the kitchen sink in with the vent on that side of the trailer, so this is all the plumbing that will be under the trailer. We used a Hepvo drain on the shower so we don't have to have the p-trap hanging out of the bottom of the trailer. (Made by Hepworth)

Well, my progress is going to come to a screaming halt come this weekend. Our greenhouses will open & I'll be there holding customer's hands with their flower selections! As far as camping, I have a beautiful silver palace that awaits my annual camping trip. Bambi's gonna have to wait until next year! I'm so torn as to what to do with my Sovereign when I finish the Bambi II. I would really hate to sell it, but common sense tells me I shouldn't have two AS's & a big vehicle to tow for a total of 1-2 trips a year. I know the Bambi is never going anywhere! Things to mull over for the next year, that's for sure.

I'm going to play around with some stain before I decide. I really am leaning toward a natural finish, since the walls & floor are dark. That's why I like the dark striping in the wood. Gives it a little "zing" Donno.......I'll keep you posted!

I opted to put 1/2" fir for the middle of my wall sandwich that the tv mount is on.


I buried the carriage bolts in the plywood that faces the shower.


Then I glued fiberglass panel over the plywood.


The bolts will never go anywhere, but the mount is removable.

I've made a mock up of the wall that used to go through the window. I think this might work. I can just make a small curtain to go over the opening so it can be opened easily for access to the window cranks.
