Bambi II opinions
Flickr: timdude's Photostream
First post, I've been driving past this for about 20 years. Stopped today guy wants $4000 and would not budge. He's had it for about 30 years the plate is 1985. Serial # 0216 Ohio plant. It's pretty rough pan by the toilet is falling through. Fridge vent has holes in it, couldn't see much inside. My guess this would be a frame off restore. I was thinking $500 no more.

You better hold your cards mighty tight because the second someone finds out where that $4000 Bambi II is, it will be scooped up right from under you. If you are going to pass, I am VERY interested.

For many people that is the ultimate rare trailer, if this guy had it up for sale anywhere someone would have already scooped it. IMHO it's worth more than he's asking if its in any decent sort of condition.

Thanks, for the advice, I'll keep you in mind if I cannot make any headway with the gentlemen. Thing is his house was in just as bad of condition, and was sceaming for a good cleaning and paint, he was pretty old. I offered to work down his price and he wasn't to interested in that. I'll keep paying visit's to him.
My flickr pics might be geocached so folks may already know the location, but it is in Metro Louisville. Here's a better link in set form.
Bambi II - a set on Flickr
I hope I can get him to come off the price, it's hard for me to drop 4K before it's out of the driveway. It sounds like that may well be a bargain from your comments. I would love to take on a restoration, looks like fun.

I paid $1000 for mine- it is a total resto...getting ready to out the new sub floor in tomorrow.
Any vintage Airstream with the word BAMBI on the side will draw interest anywhere you go.

I paid $500 for mine and have sunk about a billion hours and lots o money into it. If I paid $4000 for it, I would REALLY be sick! But, I have a new (except for the shell) trailer! I think you can do much better than $4000. You really have to figure you'll put at least $8,000 - $10,000 into it by the time you're finished with it if it needs floor/frame work and lots of interior work. That's if you do all the work yourself. Good to hear from Ben again! Wondered where the brother to my bambi II went!

I'll give the guy $500 and no more. I don't have to have it. I mean it's cool, rare, the right size, and my daugther really wants it. But, from what I have seen on some of the restorations here, it needs alot. For my own piece of mind I'd put a new frame under it. My best guess would be about 10 to 15k to make it real nice with me doing all the work. I don't want to pay $4000 for a shell.

Still there, I went over back in late Jan. to get some interior pics for Melody Ranch and the guy couldn't find the key. So I'm done, I gave him Melody Ranch's phone number and he is like do have his email. I said look you have my number I'll give $500 any day of the week I'm two blocks away. Their might be $4000 for you a phone call away, but darn you have to make some effort. Not sure if Melody Ranch ever contacted him. If it's still there in a year I might pay him a visit, but I'm pretty much over it.

I did and now he wants 7000. Some great Folks called him, or went by, and told him the famous "IT'S WORTH 20,000$."

He's a nut case, sorry it didn't work out. I'm glad you didn't drive up here on a whim and have him pull the plug.
