1964 Bambi II grey water tank
Here's another question. Has anyone installed a grey way tank of some description in his/her Bambi II? If so, what did you use and where did you put it?

Gray tanks can usually be added without much difficulty.
The catch to it though is to know exactly how much room is in the chassis where the tank is proposed to be installed.
The only way that can be determined is to drop the underbelly, and make some measurements.
Then and only then can a reasonable answer be shared.
Not every trailer of the same model or year has the crossmembers in the same places.

I think the Bambi II layout is similar to the Caravel? I had a friend install a grey tank in his Caravel by putting it under the bathroom sink. He lost bathroom sink cabinet space, but he was able to route the kitchen sink and bathroom sink into it. I think he added another slide valve to empty it, since the water would have originally drained out onto the ground. I don't remember how he setup that part, but I was pretty jealous and wanted a grey tank for my Caravel when I saw what he'd done!

After all was said and done, we couldn't find a way to put a grey water tank within the 3" frame members without a lot of iron work. We did enlarge the diameter of the sink drain pipe to 2 1/2" where possible to give us a gallon or so capacity. So we have the dreaded "BlueBoy" for the times we can't creatively dispose of grey water. Andy's Inland RV center did come up with new black water tank which worked out fine....but it's only about 5 gallons, a bit smaller than stock.
If the caravel has 4" framing VTS's grey tanks may work considering Andy's comment.

I've also heard on the VAP of having the grey tank hang below the frame by 1" and boxing it in.

Andy, thank you for the info. I think this is going to be a future project if I don't trade up pretty soon. I have only had to use the "blue tank" one time and what a pain it it was. It seems that nothing is easy to do on a vintage Airstream the way they were built.

Yes, but my son & husband made a new frame that is 4" rather than 3", so the VTS tanks fit inside the belly pan. We put 2 in, so we have about 36 gallon capacity for grey water.

That's the type of construction our '74 rear bath has, both tanks are hung slightly below the frame and boxed in.

I bet you don't have anywhere near that much for black tank capacity!

Nope, but I'll be able to take a nice, long, hot shower (if I can fit in there!!!)
