Pvc
Marcus -
Thanks for the encouragement and comments on PVC. I thought it was OK to use -- didn't Colin recommend fishing around in the bar sink parts at Lowe's on the VAP?
Anyway, I only used it under our one sink and the connection to the flexible vent hose is with a leftover tube of 3M 5200 Marine Sealant. That stuff is amazing on boats, so it should stand vibration.
We're hoping to come thru Austin in March. I'll ping you if we're in town.

Gaucho Cushion
modarch-
Thanks!
BTW - we played with cushions, hoping to use the hinge idea mentioned a number of posts further back in this thread. We ended up with the same design you have. Cushions are almost done.
Your drawing was really helpful.

You're on, but only if I can do the same. I'd love to see your work too.

I suggest you twist his arm and have him fix you some brisket when you visit

Brisket
Hmmmm.
I thought Marcus had a post ... or 10 .. or 20 about cooking brisket.
Seriously, a beer or margarita is more than enough. Marcus is now the third on our list of people to meet on our first big trip.
Hopefully, we'll get some good suggestions on pimping it out for our first ever rally -- the WBBB.

"Pimping it out" for the WBBB?!? Yikes - I'll be happy to have my leaks fixed and a new axle and Marmoleum floor. (Just hoping more of the paint doesn't fall off.)
Given the pics, I don't think you have much to worry about when the rally open house rolls around - it looks fantastic.
Have a great trip - my wife and I were reading different articles about Austin at the same time the other night, wistfully wishing...

Last big job
The last big job was to make a nice tabletop for where the old sink was. Here it is in place, mahogany, trimmed in front. The whole thing is covered with -- you guessed it -- West Systems Epoxy -- in case we splash a little water on it when showering.
The heater folds back and will be protected by the curtain, in case you're wondering.

John- is that a custom made teak floor mat in your shower pan? I have heard of folks putting those in. Is it on a rigid "sleepers" if you will, that are beveled to meet the slope of the pan? That looks really nice.
I have contemplated making one for my Caravel, but have been pondering how to protect the perimeter of the wood from scratching the epoxy finish I put on my pan while bouncing down the road. Maybe some rubber "feet" screwed to the bottom... Any significant reduction in head height??
Finished pics look great! Have fun tonight!

Floor Mat
modarch,
The floor mat was a great buy on eBay, originally from Pottery Barn. I just cut it to fit, but it doesn't come forward of the drain.
Each slat has 2 rubber feet and it's a little wobbly underfoot, so I'm not sure I'd recommend it. Too cold outside to try right now!
I did find some online that were made of teak slats bonded at right angles. That, with some red rubber glued to the bottom might be the best option.
Good party last night.

VERY GOOD!!! You have done a super Job. I'm working on a 65 Caravel also and do you know what these were used for? They were screwed to the ceiling just a bit to the street side from center. I have been told they were for holding a hammock and for holding a fold-up bunk-bed. Neither seems right, but you never know.

Roger your sources are correct, a canvas style bunk had cables that slipped into those to support them.

Cold!
Thanks, Susan.
We aren't far from you. We just ran down I-85, then I-65 to Mobile to avoid the freezing weather. Looks like we won't be successful. It's freezing in Southern Alabama! Literally -- they're forecasting 29 tonight.
We ran all the way here from Connecticut and we're finding the same weather.
Weird.
Good luck with your '62.

John, How's the Wave 6 holding up in that freezing weather?

Wave 6
Sheridan-
The State Parks in Georgia and Alabama have all had electricity so far. Except for one night, we've been using a small 1500 watt electric heater. That night, it was about 37 degrees and we were good and warm on medium.

This bunk hangs from hooks like yours via cables and attaches to the wall through hooks that insert into the side rail of the bunk.
