Plastic Cabinet Clips

Am I going to have to remove the cabinet door trip piece that the clips are riveted to to replace the clips? It seems so, as I can't drill out the rivet stump.

Mine were broken, but I didn't try to replace them with a new set that would also break over time. I used these instead. Much better product than the original plastic clips.

I already have the replacements. I'm going with them (if I can solve this issue) until we do the shell-off restoration in a few years.

I removed the cabinet doors. I need to reglue the coverings also. But I'm stuck, how to remove the rivets stumps in the doors. Any suggestions? Bueller? Bueller?

Clips continued.

As it turned out the rivets, that held the broken clips to the edge of the door, could have the center punched through and the rest of the rivet pulled out by a bent paper clip - on most of the doors. It was hit or miss. Out of six doors, half this trick worked on. The other three, I was able to push the drilled off rivet further down into the hole. All of the doors got a drop or two of white glue into the rivet hole and let dry, I then used a plain ol little wood screw in the hole for the new clips. The important thing I came away with was I had to use the screws (I intended on re-riveting) however the rivet tool tip was too big get near the hole, the clip would be broken off if I forced it. The screws worked better anyway, looked better as they were beveled and fit nice and flush.

Glad you got it solved. I have had to use small washers stacked on top of each other to build up space for some hard to get too locations with my rivet gun. The curtain tracks was one of those. I had to build up washers in the track until my rivet gun fit onto the top washer, because the rivet gun tip wouldn't fit in the track slot. It worked, but it took some trial and error to get the right size washers. I thought about using screws also, but I wanted to use rivets and that is the only way I could make them work.
