Beautiful polishing job. Alas, I don't think I have the polishing gene. I can't even seem to get a coat of wax on our 2001 Miata. Fortunately, it is garaged.

It's definitely a lot of work. However, not as much as the floor replacement was. I am happy to be this far along. I just hope the polish lasts through the winter sitting outside. I don't want to have to repeat the process in the spring. Now, like you Dan, I need to wax a Miata. Other things have been put on the back burner in favor of the Caravel lately.

I guess I should share my amusing Caravel story. Several weeks ago I took our new to me Caravel into the local AS shop to have a new axle assembly and Fantastic Fan installed. They called and said it was ready so I drove the hour there to pick it up. Upon arriving I went into the service department and said I got a call that my Caravel was ready. The nice lady said that it would be brought up shortly and I paid my bill. I then went out to my truck and waited. Several minutes later the forklift brought out a year-model-later Caravel and parked it next to several other Airstreams. It was a beauty (like yours Jewel), polished with A/C, new aluminum tanks and marker lights and baby moon hub caps. I couldn't help but to get out of the truck and go admire it. I walked all around it and looked at everything and got a few ideas and made plans for mine. After getting an eyeful I sauntered on back to my truck and climbed in and continued to wait. 20 minutes later I got impatient, so I went back in and asked how long until my Caravel was brought out. She smiled and turned and pointed out the window at the shiny trailer I had been admiring and said "Well, it's right there!" Ha! I said "Well unless y'all installed new tanks and a roof air conditioner and polished it up and removed my jalousie windowed door, I'd be happy to take that trailer, but someone is gonna be PISSED." I should have figured it out sooner, but they had brought out the wrong trailer!

Now that is a funny story!!! That is the kind of thing that makes me glad to do my own work when possible. If they can get that wrong, what else will they do wrong. It is nice to see other Caravels to give you ideas on your own. Believe me, mine has come a long way from the point we picked it up more than 2 years ago. Yours will get there!

Yours is looking pretty spectacular! nice polish job!

Very early on with our trailer we went to a vintage rally in CA, and to my surprise we were one of about 7 Caravels there! We ended up all going around and touring each other's trailers, because none of us had had a chance to see other Caravels. It was pretty cool. They're like snowflakes - no two are exactly alike!

I guess I haven't checked here in a while. Sorry for the late reply kevinkatz! I only have a grey tank under the bathroom sink. I couldn't find a pre-made tank that would fit between the frame rails and would not protrude too low in the back. I do like having it above floor though, no worries about freezing in cold weather. The only drawback is that using the shower requires me to run a hose into the woods, or into a blueboy. I actually like that though because it eliminates a lot of the water that would otherwise fill a tank pretty quickly, and shower water in my opinion, is not too bad for the environment, so just running it out a hose is not the end of the world.

The tank I used under the sink is the 18" x 18" x 10" from VTS Here. It just fits in the space and still leaves some space above for under sink storage.

We recently did a week long trip to the north shore of New Orleans. It was a great trip! As soon as we pulled into the campground to set up several people showed up to ask what year the trailer was. When I said 1965, it took them back. One guy said he thought it was a new one. We enjoyed showing it off. But, mostly we enjoyed using it rather than working on it. Everybody is so nice down there and lots of things to do. We did some marsh fishing off the coast and caught some drum and redfish. We did Jazzfest the first weekend. It was a great trip.
