Door latch

Hello fellow 65 Caravel owners, it has been awhile.....quite awhile !
Has anyone rebuilt/replaced the original door latch mechanism on the main trailer door ? I understand new replacement door latch parts are not available. The latch works, it just seems so "loosey-goosey" / worn out.
The mechanism in the photo is the heart of the matter. Any ideas/experience with improving/replacing this component ?
