'65 Caravel Dinette Layout?

Has anyone seen a dinette layout like this? Is this unusual, normal or home made? I can't find anything online like it, picture wise. This is a 65 Caravel I'm buying, the owner sent these pictures to me, I haven't actually laid eyeballs on the trailer yet...

Looks like someone along the way added the two grey "wings". A typical Caravel has a gaucho (which makes into a double-ish bed) across the front with adjustable tables that fold out from the walls on the ends (where the grey wings are) - not a square table in the middle. Looks nice, it would probably work better with a larger family - but it's not original.

Thats what I was afraid of. I noticed the knothole plugs in the rear facing wood in front of the water tank first. I didn't think the AS carpenters would allow that. So I started looking all over the 'net for pix and no joy. The trailer is in need of restoration, and I'm willing and able to tear it apart. However I'm not a proper carpenter and without original parts to work with… I don't think its a deal breaker, but I was hoping to restore this antique without too much new fabrication. I guess it's time to watch for interiors for sale… Thanks Shari!!

It looks like they might have cut and re-used the original gaucho base to make the side wings. They appear to have the correct latches that would have been in the front.

Airstream did not use post base tables in the sixties...they were either freestanding so you could also take them outside or they were folding & hinged so they could fold up along the walls when not in use. like this:

Check this out to see more examples of 1965 Caravels...they are sweet little trailers! Very efficient for their size.

I'm very familiar with that site, and several others as well. I've done my research, this forum post was the last and final resort to find an answer. I recently sold our cherry "Chrome Twinkie" '66 Ambassador International in order to find a Caravel. Kids are gone, we don't need a 28' monster. As a avid, but aging outdoorsman, I don't want to do tents or pickup beds anymore, we just need a small classic metal tent with a potty, in our budget: Caravel.
