1965 Caravel - Zed's project

I do not recall ever posting photos of the restoration of your Caravel. We recently completed the exterior renovation and are moving our efforts to the inside.

Very nice! I am doing the opposite... redoing the inside first and hope to tackle the outside last. I was afraid I would be so tired of polishing, I might loose interest doing more. I hope mine polishes up as nice as yours.

Your trailer is very nice.
I see you changed out the fugly AC to a nice low pofile unit. I had a Caravel with factory air. That AC unit mounted in the middle of the trailer. The roof is ribbed to support it in the center. That left the fan and vent intacted at the rear. The arms on the aircraft doors were shorter on the front doors so they would not hit the AC. The drip went into the kitchen side cabnets and down by the hotwater tank. The old Univolts in these unit supplied 19 volts DC to the ceiling fan and the range fans. It also supplied 12 volts to the lighting/waterpump.

I would get some aircraft cable and tether the access doors. I you forget to lock them there gone and you can't find replacements.

Your trailer is a beauty! Maybe this year we'll get to polishing ours.

Zed2 / Keith - I sure hope you have already made plans to show off your Airstream vintage beauty at The Cradle of History Vintage Rally to be held October 3 thru 6, 2013 at the J. B. Wells Park in Gonzales, TX. I know I'd sure like to see & tour it!
