refurbishing in Indiana
Just inherited a 18 ft caravel which resides in Indianapolis. It needs work and I could use some referrals.

Welcome to the forums. There are several Caravel owners here. What kind of referrals are you looking for? Service, parts, general info?

Welcome!
De Nerenberg,
I am not sure what types of referrals you are looking for. I guess that would depend on the condition of your Airstream. Please provide some additional information and/or photos.
Welcome to the forums!
Regards,
Henry

Its been sitting idle for a decade, so it has flat tires and the door has been pryed open. I need to find someone local to look at it. My sisters wont help lift it so I'd better try to tow it.

?!?!?!. If the door has been "pried" open, how much damage was there to the door and the surrounding skin? If the door has been damaged it may be toast (ha-ha, figure out where i got that one from??), because I read that the frame of the door itself is hard if not impossible to come by. This coach may be a basket case.

Hi
I am not sure what it requires. I'd love to have someone look it over so I can decide what I should do first. I know It will want tires and brake lights. Once it is moving I can go about finding refurbishers. I do not think any of the door damage is beyond repair.
Does anyone know who to call in Indianapolis to look it over?
Thanks
DeDe

On this forum is a thread called something like "So you want a trailer that is 3 states away. . ." that contains references to forum members in various regions who are willing to look over a coach and give you pointers about it. Perhaps you could use the search tool here, find someone in your area, and get some local advice. Just a suggestion

Thank you for all the replys. I am finally home from travel and can attend to your kind suggestions. I will go to the "So you want a trailer that is three states away..." and see if I can find someone in Indy to suggest a repair shop. I am ignorant re' Airsteams and don't know the first step to take to getting it up and moving.

I have almost the entire interior of a 69 Caravel that is available, contact me if you need anything. Good luck it is almost always worth the trip!

It's easier to go side to side especially using click together flooring. If you rip the boards lengthwise you lose the ability to snap them together correctly. It just works out better and cheaper to go side to side. I was able to do the entire floor in just about 4 hours. Be sure to get more flooring than you think you will need. Mistakes come easy in a trailer. Sometimes those little cuts don't work the first time.
