New Guy with '69 Caravel

After four years of looking, and several roadtrips to check some out, I finally landed what I think is a unit that seems to be in reasonable condition. However, the more I poke around, the more intimidated I become. So here is a link to some preliminary pics. Airstream Overview by gcrussel8547 | Photobucket
As I post my many questions, I'll try to support it with more photos.
So here's the first one: The PO took a hack saw to some of the plumbing around the water pump so I need to re-plumb from the tank to the hot water tank. But the water tank is adrift and the trailer fill spout does not align with the fill neck on the tank. (see photo)

So, Is this simply a Home Depot type fix (which will probably leave a low spot in the filler, or is this tank not the original? What say you?

It is missing the clear hose that joins the 2 together. That's how my 67 Caravel was set up.
