Would the Forum Disown me if, ...

I bought an Aviator Wright Flyer?

Minus's,
It's not an AS.
It's not Vintage.

Plus's ,
It's certainly not a Box. Great Lines. (I wish they made class A that looked like it.)
Seems well constructed. Much better than most SOB's i've seen.
Full of tech, ... tech tech and moreeee tech. (I know that offends alot of ASstreamers. What can I say, ... that's why I like AS's som much. They are all about a techy looking thing. I am and will always be an early adopter.)

Well it's not an AS or vintage kin, so if you wanted to attend rallies that could be a problem. There are some that do allow SOBs.

If your going to spend the money on one, why not buy a newer used AS model and add the Tech you want?

Isn't there a Wright Flyer forum?

You would be welcome at any AIR rallies, we always have an SOB or two joining us at ours. WBCCI would be another story, they require Airstream ownership and have Airstream only rallies.

Nice looking trailer. I still prefer the Airstream but it does look nice.

Not for me, okay for you. It has little of what I need and less of what I want. Of course, I am happy with a 50 year old Avion. Jim

You could still come to Canopener I guess, just not in loop 103...
That trailer to me is Forest River's response to the Airstream trailers...
I see some on the internet deeply discounted- maybe you got a real good deal.
Does yours have the circular dinette in the front?
There are many rallies we attend where we are the only Airstream!
We went to a rally in a caravan that included our Arstream, a Class A motor home, a fifth wheel trailer, and a conversion van.
There is still fun and fellowship among our RV friends.
Trailerites are trailerites regardless of brand.
I predict you will camp in your Aviator 2 years and buy an Airstream. I had a Forest River Wildwood 28RLSS for 2 years, 4 months before trading to the Airstream.

I like it because it's lines have more curves than most SOB's.
It's refresshing considering 99% of SOB's clearly lack any imagination at all.
Really disapointing considering that most Travel Trailers are American made.
I've said if before and I'll say it again, ... We're only ever gonna see innovation, design, and quality, when Apple, Google or an Asian car company gets into the market.

Do love that Land Yaht I will say.

I think AS could make an absolute killing if they made a class A with curves like they used too but with yaht like appointments. ...

Interesting looking for an SOB. Much better than the usual white box. We've never thrown anyone out for having something other than an AS. I know we're a cool bunch to hang around with

What kind of tech does it have that the AS is missing? Just curious.

If you are on this forum then you are an Airstream nut, at least at some level. I certainly would not care if you came to an Airstream rally.

I rode BMW motorcycles for years and went to a lot of BMW rallies. When I bought my Triumph Sprint ST, I still went to BMW rallies and was always welcomed. Most of the Beemer owners found the Triumph interesting. I have not changed. I will always like BMW's, Airstreams oh and Triumph Sprints.

I like it a lot. Davcarv. It also looks like a GalileoRV. I saw those at the show the last two years- Same shape and similar tech.

I went to the website and read over the three models and watched a few youtube vids and they are impressive. The one with opposing slides would end up with a 12" wide room! They certainly studied the market and included the goodies. They are obviously pushing a quality point with those models. The prices...MSRP $80K for an Electra model (smallest) at 29' but I found one for sale/on sale for $49K

I don't think anyone would disown anyone, but it is not an Airstream.

I found a dealer's web site that claims they are a real competitor to Airstream.

I would strongly disagree with that statement.

They are simply a plastic box with round ends, in my opinion.

But, in the end, we all only have ourselves to please.....

Regards,

JD

Although I find them very unattractive, I do dig some of their forward thinking ideas. A heated underbelly sounds great!

I agree with most above that it is not an Airstream and compare as you may it will never be the quality of an Airstream. A few years ago there was a product called Earth Bound, which also had lots of bells and whistles, looked really cool. It only lasted a very short time and is long gone now. I wonder where the owners of that brand turn to when something goes wrong. You should consider this seriously and do lots of research about the co. and the product. go to the factory, how long has it been in production, look up all the reviews from present owners of units, do the research. Airstream has longevity for a reason. What will that plastic rig be looking like in a few years, what will it be worth. Check it out completely. Be cautious and take your time. Will it be around in 75 or 80 years?

I think the economic downturn ate up a lot of RV manufacturers, which is too bad because I like to see innovative stuff like the Earthbound coming out. I think it's weird that so many white boxes are out there, when aerodynamic designs and futuristic styling and tech goodies on the inside seem like no-brainers in 2013! I guess if the market isn't demanding it though, it's not going to catch on.

If you do, please give us an in depth review, with follow up reliability reports. It looks cool. I love that fact that, unlike so many SOB's, it has a front window.

Quite a styling disaster. A little bit of everything borrowed from many RV's, but none of it fits. Odd proportions.

If you want an Airstream, why not get one?

Your post reads like a personal value judgment which is probably not universally held.

It is Ken, trying to be honest. Beauty is often in the eye of the beholder, but jeez that thing is "unusual". And I'm hoping the op will get an Airstream if that's what he really wants.
