Wide body

It is my understanding that Airstream went to the wider body in 95. How much extra space does it provide and how much extra weight for the 34'. Also, what are the experiences with the models that have slide outs.

Don't know about the weight but I believe the width is increased to 8.5 ft.

I don't know much about the slide outs, except that they don't slide out very far compared to other trailers, and they add a lot to tongue weight. Greater tongue weight is also needed to compensate for the higher centre of gravity.

Well it's a noticible difference in space. My dinette slides out. There is a considerable weight penalty especially the hitch weight. I know that in 2003 the GM supplied factory receiver on my 3/4 ton van needed to be replaced with a class V unit. Do I have any regrets? Not a one. The slide has performed flawlessly. You should be able to go out to the Airstream site and check out the specifications for a slide and non slide out trailer.
