What is an "International"?

I have been looking at 60s era airstreams and I will be inspecting a 1965 Safari that is an "International" model. My sense is that these were designed to be truly self-contained.

Can someone describe to me the differences between models that are also labeled as "International" versus ones that do not carry that label?

thanks for your input.

International Trim Pkg

The International Trim Pkg on a model indicates a upgrade to different interior options such as colors/fabrics and exterior trims as rear tail light housing, and rub rail, as well as badging. My '67 Safari is an International and my interior upgrade was to Aqua vs. Yellow countertops, Bathroom, and better covering materials on the goucho couch and twin bed/dinette area. The exterior has a double rub rail trim with International badge and Flag, and international badge across the rear, as well as larger trim/tail light housings. I am sure there were other options in the International upgrade that others here will help with but this should get you started. ed

What Is An International?

Greetings Becasse!

I tried to find the explanation for International series in 1965, but 1964 was as close as I could get.

First of all, the Land Yacht Series had to be specified, including:
  • 12-Volt Marine Water Pump and 30 gallon polyethylene water tank.
  • Univolt electrical system.
  • 12-Volt Battery
  • Butane Refrigerator
  • Butan Water Heater
  • Automatic Switchover Regulator
  • Marine Toilet with hand spray device
  • Airstream Sanitator
  • Sewer Hose Carrier
The International added to the Land Yacht, the following:
  • A water purifier with separate faucet
  • Two ceiling fans
  • Two 12-volt convenience outlets
  • Two over-sized Butane Tanks
  • Police-type Radio Antenna
  • 12-Volt Exterior Flood Light
  • Battery Condition Meter
  • Battery Operated Clock
  • Stainless Steel Galley Sinks
  • Deluxe Plumbing Hardware
  • Galley Hand Spray
  • Galley Formica Splash Panel
  • Bedroom Wall Comfort Cover
  • Bedroom Ceiling Cover in 24' and larger coaches (matches Wall Comfort Cover)
  • Bedspreads
  • Nylon Upholstery
  • Belgian Linen Curtains
  • Vinyl Floor Tile
  • Deluxe Hub Caps
The precise make-up of the International package varied from one year to the next, but it consisted of many of the more popular or desired options.
