That is not really the serial number plate. If they got those numbers off it, that is why they are not consistant with Airstream serial numbers.
There should be a builder's plate under the jalousie windows that actually says "Airstream", maybe with the factory location, and a serial number. From the access hatch on the rear, it is post 1963, and from the Corning windows, it is post 1965. From the taillights, it is pre-1968, and from the length and number of axles, it is a 24' Tradewind. So, looks like you have a 66-67 Tradewind on your hands.
Also, I noticed the "vin" you were provided is similar to the license plate number shown. You don't suppose they put the license plate number in, instead of the serial number?

I think they probably did not know what the number was and thought it was the VIN

The VIN # would be in the blue section on the placque that looks similar to this one below. The placque should be located under the window, next to the door - probably right below the other Sate of California one.

O = Land Yacht (w/o International package)
24 = TradeWind
7 = 1967
S = Santa Fe Springs, CA Built
151 = Twins - (if double, if would be 5XX instead of 1XX)
2055 = trailer number

Yeah, this one isn't one I would buy long distance, sight unseen.

With all the windows missing there is bound to be water damage and those Corning windows are expensive to replace. But, if the price was right, you were able to check it out beforehand and you were up for the challenge....the body looks pretty good ~

From the pictures, it looks like the tanks have been removed as well. The placed where the vent would come through the skin has been patched. With most of the windows broken out, I can only wonder what the inside looks like. It looks like a shell with bas axels to me.....

I'm trying to figure out what the vertical pipes, attached to the tongue at the front corners are? Any thoughts?
