Mods, can we consolidate this thread and the identically-titled thread in the Globetrotter forum? No idea why there are two of them.

Here’s a question I posed in the other thread: For those of you who have replaced control/lignition boards for your Globetrotter fridges and water heaters, could you provide some guidance on which Dinosaur part #s I need?

Are you thinking of replacing the "factory" boards preemptively?

Yes, and keeping the factory boards as spares.

I generally don’t sweat this kind of thing—if we were just doing weekend or even weeklong trips I’d be fine just replacing a board if/when it fails. But we are going on an extended trip next summer and I don’t want either of these appliances to go down. So this is just a peace of mind move.

A pricier preemptive fix, no doubt, but no different in spirit than carrying spare fuses. Almost everything else I consider critical can easily be procured while traveling.

Quick update on the board replacements--I provided Dinosaur Electronics with model numbers. Apparently Dinosaur doesn't sell directly; you can get their parts on Amazon and through service centers.

The Dinosaur part number for a 2019 Globetrotter 27 water heater board replacement is UIB64.

According to the (very friendly) man I spoke with, they do not have a replacement board for the fridge. The fridge in my unit is a Dometic Model RMD 8555 and has a product number of 00921132319. If anyone has replaced the board in their fridge, I'd be happy to know whether there is a non-OEM, fully compatible board out there that I can procure as a backup.

Just finished installation of a "Luna" light br on the bathroom. We were disappointed with the lighting when the mirror was in the up position reducing countertop visibility. Got to looking at at the undercounted LED lighting Airstream used on the bottom of the upper cabinets at the kitchen sink and decided it would work and maintain the factory look.
I ordered Airstream part # 513332-33 Luna light kit from our dealer and wired the light into the existing wall switch. There is about a two inch dead space between the switch wall and the adjoining cabinet. It was easy to fish the wiring to the switch. Kit costs $75 and looks great, see below.

jec1,

Wiring was easy as there is a 2-3" void area behind the water heater control and light switch. You will need to extend the wires on the LED fixture to reach the ground on the water heater light and the light switch.

John, you are welcome to visit and observe the installation as we are not that far apart. PM me if you want to drive down.

The part number I gave was Airstream's part number for the light assembly ordered from JC. Luna lighting makes it for Airstream and their website address in an earlier post. You maybe able to purchase directly from them.

Sorry if this isn't the correct thread for this. We've had our 2019 Globetrotter now 10 months & I'm struggling with the Dometic t-stat and heat pump use.
With a 50 amp service it seems that both heat pumps should able to operate at the same time yet only one unit comes on to heat (haven't needed A/C yet). I can manually toggle between zone 1 & zone 2 with only one zone turned "on" and either unit performs correctly. I can turn "on" both zones with identical settings yet only one unit runs.

So am I not understanding something? Temperatures are in the 40's at night warming to 60-70 during the day. The 50 amp service is good. We are currently on our first long trip to Arizona enjoying the features of the new rig.

What has our fellow Globetrotter's experience been? Thanks everyone.

Both units have a heat pump so show up in both zones. Only one zone controls the “Heat” which is your propane heater for the entire AS.

Welcome to Arizona! We live in Oro Valley and love it!

Heatpump shows up as HP. Propane heater shows up as FURN. You should be able to select Zone 1, set mode to HP and set the temp. Then select Zone 2, set mode to HP and set the temp. Assuming conditions warrant it, both units should run. If one unit is not running and you think it should be, select that zone, and press INSIDE TEMP. That will show you what the thermostat thinks the temp is in that zone. If the inside temp is below what you set the temp to for that zone, then the heat pump should be running. Note that when the system calls for heating there will be a delay of approximately 2 minutes before it comes on. If the thermostat shows the hour glass symbol and the heat pump never runs, then the thermostat is calling for heat and the unit on the roof is not responding and the system needs to be serviced. Could be the unit, could be the thermostat, could be the wiring.

If the thermostat shows the inside temp in the zone to always be too high for the heat pump in that zone to come on, could be a defective sensor, or a bad thermostat, or bad wiring between the two. If the zone that doesn't come on is zone 2, know that the sensor in that zone which is near the refrigerator is always a bit off because of heat coming from the refer.

Repair of any of these things should be covered by your warranty (except the zone 2 sensor problem, just a bad design IMO).

If you want, you can try "rebooting" the thermostat. First turn the thermostat off. Then disconnect shore power or turn off the breaker at the pole, and switch the USE/STORE switch to STORE. Wait a minute, then switch back to USE, and reconnect shore power. Then try again. We used to have to do this periodically to get the AC units to work right before we got JC to replace our thermostat.

Thanks everyone for the excellent information. A tip of the hat to Steve for the excellent detailed instructions.

What I had to do is reboot the t-stat CPU but another key was not setting the thermostats at the same temperature. Practical experience is far better than that of a technical writer's operating manual.
