Ditto. There’s enough noise pollution in the world as it is....

Call me irresponsible. I’m fed up with the door slamming open then latching automatically. Surely the new ones have blue tooth that you control with a smart phone. But for simplicity sake. This is my strap solution. Of course it depends on the main and screen door staying latched together. Certainly not original, but I’ve not seen one on an AS.

No awning light for me. But, here is my outdoor speaker. The beauty of it is you place it near you, where ever you are and it sounds pretty darn good. Plus, it was a present. They come in white, too.

Hi Clint. Good idea for the door. Been thinking of a solution to stop that slamming for awhile now.

Can you please direct me to the source of the orange strap you used? Thanks.

The 23FB forum

WW, I need to do the fix on my microwave. Our 2011 just has the vent on the top. Plastic strip only on the bottom. And just four screws. The lower right one is stripped out. So it’s being held in by 3 screws. 350 mile day yesterday 450 mile day today. (On the way to Outer Banks) Hopefully it’ll stay in place until we get home in a few weeks. So far everything is working fine. Fridge is making ice, hot water heater is not boiling over (turned out to be sludge in the bottom of it, just needed flushed out) A/C working well with easy start. Pulling like a dream with the GYEs. I don’t have anything to complain about. Ha, but it’s day 2.

For you all with newer 23FBs, here’s the old table configuration. The table is on a Swinging bracket that lowers it down when it’s converted into a bed. It’s a permanent attachment to the wall though.

Strap - how is wind dealt with? Needs a stand off to lock into place.

Speaker- group of MCs with loud stereo. Obtrusive, but they shut down upon entering the CG. Keep your music quiet, inside, or a long way from others. Quiet CGs are golden.

Anyone replaced steps? Quich survey identifies $200 to $400 for new. Wondering if removing rod and replacing with bushings and bolts would work. Like the idea of alum if I can find.

New lithium battery works great. God AH capacity and fast charge. TV seems to be charging the bank as well. Disconnect overnight and shutting down charge when topped off works too.

Cheers to all. Great projects. Pat

E, the strap and brackets are homegrown. My first choice wouldn't be orange but that is what I had available.

Its 22" long cut from a piece of scrap; overlapped 4" and sewn on a regular sewing maching. This creates an 18" circumference loop. In other words laying flat its 9" long doubled up.

I bet you can find something nicer on amazon that would work. Length is important, obviously

Thanks, Clint

I never would want to leave the door in that position. If I want to leave the door open, I would let the main door go to fully open and latched, then close the screen door. This is just for ingress and egress, to prevent the door from swing too far, which usually results it latching. Then having to step down onto the steps to reach the latching mechanism. This usually happens when both hands are not free.

So, what does a 2013 23FB weigh that I've messed with? Today I towed to a CAT scale. Modes since weighing is twin conversion, jacknife sofa in lieu of dinette, the new flooring was quite heavy... not to mention the LFP batteries (reduced weight and moved them back a little), the 3000W inverter ... and paraphernalia... elongated WC and I haven't weighed since adding the solar panels and lots of weight in cabling. I am right about what I expected going from around 1100# and a skoshi # to 670#. AS has added 300# to the GVWR on the new 23FBT Globetrotter, so I'll order the magic wand and give it a wave. I also have the benefit of GYE D rated 14" (15" when I need to replace). So, I've attached a MS Paint (.png) file with the data for anyone interested.

Trying to get the file large enough to see. First time I've had this happen. I can only increase so far.

I apologize for my ADHD yesterday. And, for the multiple posts including me replying to my own post.

Looking at the numbers again (which were slightly off, by the way), I'm trying to get my head around, why did tongue weight take a whopping 390# off of the steering axle? Tongue weight is in reality 680# when hypothetically moving the 190# of Hensley hitch to the truck bed... yes the truck was squatting some. Payload is 1872# with 6900# GVWR, by the way.

With WDH, 260# moved back to the steering axle with how I had it set to give a decent ride. This is telling me I need to add more tension, but ground to front fender measurement (which I always check) was with only about 1/8" higher than initial... so quite level.

To and from the scale gave me a good indication of ride and handling being about 57 miles on a combination of a very rutted secondary road and interstate highway.

Trailer stance was level with WDH as setup.

I showed on the drawing TWR was 9.01%; it was actually 9.2% and should be fairly easy to get above 10% with careful loading. Fresh water nets about 2.5# on the tongue for every 10# in the tank, for instance. But I have to be careful not to exceed rated 6000# GVWR of the trailer.

Comments, suggestions are appreciated.
Clint

You all will think I’m horrible. I haven’t ever taken our 23FB to the scale. I hook it up, eyeball it (yep it looks level) and go. If it feels fine, I must be good, right? If folks are pulling 25s and 28s with a Tundra, I’m not going to worry about pulling a 23. Don’t hate on me now. . Your thoroughness is admirable, though!

Not everyone is as curious as I am, but since I had made pretty serious additions / mods I really wanted to know how those affected weight and cargo capacity. It normally isn't necessary. Level is good. But it is possible to overload the trailer.

Adding water (not necessarily full) will increase TW and produce a better TWR, which you might find useful. This model is the lowest TW of all tandem models, is my understanding.

I would suggest at least measuring (tow vehicle's) ground to front fender distance (pick a spot), then adjust WDH to produce the same or nearly the same measurement you got before hitching up; while maintaining level on the trailer. Once you get it right, you will know how to adjust the WDH and how to load truck and trailer... and might only need to tweak it for ride quality, etc.

My AC drip has stopped up over the last few days. Was working fine until yesterday. The water is now coming forward and off the curb side front corner. Guess I’ll have to find that drain up in the AC that I’ve seen mentioned.

Thanks Clint on the measurement tips. I actually did do that years ago. All seemed fine then. I’ll check it again. I put new shocks on the Tundra that raised the front end an inch. Should probably dbl check measurements again. Just drove 1,000 miles though and it feels fine. Passed and was passed by several semis without any sway.

Anyone know where the gray water tank sensor is on a 2014-23FB? Mine has stopped reading, so the panel just skips it.
